Had a great time this evening working stations up through New England from the house shack in central IN, on 6m. Started picking up to the SW as it got later. Wish I had the 2m beam in action, too.

Local storms and supper time shut me down. Amazing what 10W and a hex beam at 40' can do. Simple joys of QRP!

@K9XNRadio I'm contemplating winter field day this weekend. But I definitely have POTA and SOTA on my mind to try this year.

Today I went a different direction. I got my IC-705 set up for Winlink. Was able to send and receive emails through the Vara Winlink modem using 10w and a wire antenna. Not anticipating any disasters, but It's nice to know I can successfully put these systems in play.

Yesterday I successfully sent and received a text message using APRS via SMSGTE. That was pretty cool. I do occasionally end up somewhere with no cell service, but I can still hear stations on 2m. Might be fun to experiment with different ways access APRS.

Dug out my old 5500W generator today. Only 1.1hr run time on the meter. Hasn't run in 3yr. Amazing what fresh gas will do. Achievement unlocked! Hope this means since I'm prepared, we won't need it

I got wfview working and connected to the IC-705 across wifi. Might be fun to play around with.

Successful QSO#2. FT8 to IA on 5W. Connection to HRD and WSJT-X not too hard.

First QSO with the 705 was to a POTA station in SC. Pretty good for the first try on 5W! #TRGHS
