Her story is important because it lays out that woman would be sexually assaulted more than once in their lifetime but if we talk about it people will never take us seriously.
R&B legend and Neo-Soul Icon D’Angelo Passed Away One Year Ago Today at 51 Years Old 🤍🎶
Remembering a true legend 🕊️
D’Angelo helped reshape modern R&B with a catalog that was small in number but enormous in influence. Beginning with Brown Sugar in 1995, he brought gospel, funk, soul, jazz, and hip-hop together with a sound that felt both rooted in the past and completely his own. Voodoo followed with songs like “Untitled (How Does It Feel),” while his long-awaited return with Black Messiah proved that even after years away, his artistry had lost none of its power.
His music also found its way into movies, television, and video games, introducing his unmistakable sound to audiences far beyond his albums:
“Unshaken” (Red Dead Redemption 2)
“Sugah Daddy” (Insecure)
“She’s Always in My Hair” (Scream 2)
“Devil’s Pie” (Belly)
Across just three studio albums, D’Angelo earned four Grammy Awards and became one of the defining voices of the neo-soul movement. His influence can still be heard in generations of R&B and soul artists who followed.
D’Angelo passed away on October 14, 2025, at just 51 years old, but Brown Sugar, Voodoo, Black Messiah, and the unmistakable groove behind his music ensure that his voice remains very much alive. 🤍
