300 years in Latin America. “…the open trade in enslaved women that the Spanish delighted in as the decades wore on. Native women—or “Indias”—were gambled away in card games & traded for other objects of small value, while stables of them were rented out to sailors who desired sexual accompaniment during their travels up and down the coast. If an “India” attempted to resist, she was whipped or tortured or burned alive. Even when laws were passed to curb the more extreme of such atrocities, the penalties were a joke. When, for example, an uncooperative Nicaraguan Indian woman was burned to death in her hut by a Spaniard who tried to r@pe her, he was prosecuted by the governor—and fined five pesos.”

@ComradeRainbows I know I'm indigenous as my family still cares for the land (& I know where my great-grandparents resided) despite losing many cultural traditions, but it's also why I wanted to reconnect with the cultural aspects (not the catholicized ver), not just the land-based traditions
Israelis descend from the canaanites & ancient israelites, & they've been arguing that race blood quantum + jewish cultural preservation makes them indigenous despite losing the Palestine specific land-based practices
The difference is, Mexicans are actually the descendants of Indigenous people, unlike Israelis and USians in their respective countries. The Mexican state is evil and needs to be reformed, but by no means is it comparable to the US or Israel. The Caribbean however...
@ComradeRainbows This is why it's hard to define the african diaspora as well
They're not indigenous to these lands, but they've adapted & they brought due to the extensive agricultural & scientific knowledge they had back in Africa
They're not settlers either 'cause they were brought by force
Lib supporters can’t play dumb. It was all spelled out for them. Their fascism was evident. Their racism towards First Nations. Their leader Trudeau proclaiming he was a Zionist. Housefather remaining in caucus after supporting the slaughter of children in tents. It was all there
@navajofelon@braz2025 When it comes to geopolitics & inter-colonial conflict, it is hard not to end up being perceived as doing apologia for one actor or the other
@navajofelon@braz2025 You can't vote out collaborators
The issue is the state, but at the same time, statelessness can leave you defenceless
You'd ideally want a decentralized govt. with local self-governance that can pressure or kick out a leader for being too pro-China or something
@braz2025 Also, class collaboration has been a thing between african & european leaders for a longer time than collaboration among amerindians & europeans
Hell, there were african settler conquistadors when the europeans arrived
There's more nuance when a native says stuff like this
@braz2025 Same thing happens in Africa
Relations with emerging powers are good, but they can be very abusive. Both the chinese & the local leaders gotta work together to actually have progress
But eh, corruption happens at the state level too often
@LiteraryAgeMale@RTSG_Main These dumbasses will continue with their colonial euro-ethnosupremacist blood & soil beliefs. That's pretty much what the ACP stands for, they wanna keep the settler/indigenous dichotomy relations, then smear the movement by pointing out some bourgeois infiltration
@LiteraryAgeMale@RTSG_Main They believe in the "american" proletariat & demonize native nations as if we work by ethnic/racial barriers, much like how the palestinian resistance has been smeared as arab supremacist & bourgeoisie
@RTSG_Main Decolonization by the palestinian resistance is petty grievances funded by the bourgeoisie, true
The CIA has infiltrated it so much that now you see folks demonizing the israeli proletariat & calling for their total annihilation or expulsion, unlike the american proletariat
@b1fur1ous This is true. The CIA has infiltrated the palestinian resistance on historical grievances & pure idealism, & now you see 1st worlders disavowing the israeli proletariat & calling for their erasure
