In our opening session, we started off by understanding the Women, Peace & Security (WPS) context of Namayingo District—drawn directly from participants’ lived realities.

🔶While the district is not in active conflict, participants highlighted a growing pattern of #GBV cases, limited awareness of women’s rights, and low representation of women in decision-making spaces that continue to shape everyday community life.
🔶In fishing most communities of the district, high mobility between landing sites increases exposure to HIV risks due to frequent movement and shifting relationships. Being a border district with Kenya also influences cultural exchange, where some adopted practices—alongside harmful social and religious influences—are affecting community wellbeing.

These reflections are essential for grounding this training in real community realities, and they will directly inform our feminist leadership learning, community action planning, and reporting on #WPS outcomes.

✨ Day 2 of our #FeministLeadershipInstitute focused on conflict resolution—because sustainable peace starts in our communities.

Participants explored practical ways to analyse conflict, diving into root causes, underlying drivers, and the far-reaching effects. Understanding these layers is key to transforming tensions into opportunities for dialogue, healing, and lasting solutions.
With this training, women leaders are strengthening their skills to mediate, prevent, and resolve conflicts where it matters most 💪🏾
