countries will always have disagreements and historical conflicts. that has always been true and it always will be. normal people are capable of discussing those issues with basic intelligence and common decency

spending your entire day insulting strangers because they happened to be born on the other side of a border is extremely embarrassing. if that kind of behavior makes you feel proud or accomplished, then you have much bigger problems than whatever country you are obsessing over

there are still accounts in the comments throwing around slurs and provoking even more fights. if your first instinct after reading a post criticizing online nationalism is to post even more racist insults then you are the kind of degenerate i was talking about from the beginning

and instead of discussing politics or international relations like functioning adults, people immediately jump to racial slurs, iq jokes, gdp comparisons, calling entire countries poor, mocking appearances, or throwing around animal insults

if my feed is flooded with these arguments then of course that is what im talking about. bringing up unrelated examples from other continents adds nothing to the discussion. its as if someone complained their neighborhood is noisy and got the reply “welp but new york is louder🤷‍♂️”

i know very well that people from every part of the world fight online. i am very well aware that europe has a violent history and that there are ongoing geopolitical conflicts around the world, but none of that changes what i have personally been seeing on my own timeline

@howlbe01 한국 너무 좋아하고 좋은 친구들도 많이 만났어요! 가끔 차별을 겪을 때도 있고 왜 그런 인식이 생겼는지도 이해해요. 불법체류는 강하게 처벌하고 추방해야 한다고 계속 말해왔고 제발 태국 정부도 이제 좀 정신 차리고 움직였으면 좋겠네요.. 그래도 한국에서는 행복한 일이 훨씬 더 많았어요!

태국에서 온 유학생인데 한국에서 태국 사람이라고 하면 아직도 마약이나 불법체류 얘기부터 들어요. 그것 때문에 차별도 진짜 많이 받아봤고 솔직히 너무 힘들어요... 한국에서 태국 이미지가 거의 저렇게 굳어진 것 같아서 너무 씁쓸하고 우리 썩어빠진 정부는 아직도 손 놓고만 있네요 🙃

🇹🇭태국에게 딱히 반감 없지만, 볼멘소리를 하기 전에.. 왜? 한국이 특히 태국인 입국 심사를 강화할 수 밖에 없는지 제대로 알아야 하는 거 아닌가?

심지어 그 중국과 베트남 마저 훨씬 넘어서고 있다고...??
어떤 태국인이 법을 잘 지킬지 말지 한국이 어떻게 아는데? 우리가 부처라도 되는 줄 알아??
남의 나라에 징징댈 시간에 왜 이렇게 많이들 불법을 저지를까? 자각부터 먼저 하라고.
