Honestly, the insults directed at the North from the South are justified. The North deserves all the criticism from the South. There's no way to regaining our respect in their eyes, we keep proving their assessment of us as useless correct. 🤦🏾♂️
In Kano, especially in markets like Kwari, there are young men around Salim Goje's age who are far wealthier than him. However, because of their culture and religious upbringing, they keep a low profile. People know they have money, but they do not know the true extent of their wealth. That is how the lives of young entrepreneurs seeking success should ideally be.
This is why, whenever Kano eventually reveals its wealthy individuals, it is usually to the surprise of the world. Their wealth was not made overnight; it was accumulated quietly over many years. The world only becomes aware of it when it reaches a level that can no longer be hidden.
The reason I mention this is that, for someone of his age, Salim Goje has exposed himself too much. This is not because I am from Kano, but I believe that if Salim Goje truly carried the Kano business mentality, he would have remained discreet while continuing to build himself and his businesses. Then, years later, people would suddenly hear of his success without knowing exactly where it came from, just as happened with AA Rano, Aliko Oil & Gas, AY Me Kifi, SUFAYE, and others.
The lifestyle Salim Goje has chosen is not one that increases wealth; it is one that drains it. Yes, there is fame, but when you constantly surround yourself with actors, TikTok influencers, and celebrities, pay for songs to be made about you, and appear in videos dancing alongside them, that is not the kind of lifestyle a person seeking long-term business success should embrace. It is a lifestyle that consumes money without generating investment returns. Once that money is spent, it is gone and does not come back with profit.
Anyone observing Salim Goje's life today will notice that even his real estate business no longer seems to receive the attention it deserves. Some may argue that he has employees handling it, but serious business-minded people will understand what I mean. He is constantly attending events, celebrations, and social gatherings.
May Allah guide him to make positive changes, abandon excessive worldly distractions, and continue building his business. Ameen.

I don’t do loans unless with people I already have a business relationship with. People are not really nice anymore. I’d rather gift you something out of goodwill if you ask me for ₦100k, I can send ₦10k as support, but not as a loan. Kyauta over wahala. 🤣🤣
December 2023, I borrowed this person a sum of 100k. My stupidity was trusting a person I never knew personally, only on Twitter.
January 2024, he paid back 50k. After series of reminders and appeal to him, I got tired and sent this on 6th June 2024.
Since that day not a word...
Tonight is the 27th night of Ramadan, a night widely believed to be Laylatul Qadr (the Night of Power). At Masjid Al Haram, millions of worshippers will gather in devotion as Sheikh Abdul Rahman Sudais leads the final Rakats of Tahajjud, followed by a lengthy and emotional Dua Qunoot, seeking Allah’s mercy, forgiveness and blessings for the Ummah. May Allah accept our ibadah and grant us the blessings of this sacred night. Ameen!

LAST MAN STANDING!
What an extraordinary life. Today, my father, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, marks 100 years on earth. A full century. He has witnessed colonial rule, the struggles that shaped Nigeria’s independence, and the many victories and trials that followed. In many of these defining moments, he wasn’t just a witness, he was a key player!
Living to 100 is remarkable, but reaching this milestone with a clear mind, strong spirit, and good health is a blessing only a few ever experience.
He is a husband to four wives and a father to 23 children (19 alive and 4 deceased), and a guiding presence to nearly a hundred grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His life is a tapestry of resilience, service, and wisdom, and we continue to draw strength from his example.
May Allah preserve his life, grant him continued good health, and keep his mind sharp so we can continue learning from him, amin.
Happy birthday, Baba! What a legacy!
