Our Lion has crossed over. He exists in pure joy alongside Christine ( his physical mother), Lilbert ( his physical father) and Uncle Billy ( his physical brother ). He sits alongside all the servants of art who helped bring joy, reflection and re-alignment to this plane of existence. I know he is marveled by the life he created.

My father was a master manifestor who understood the innate dormant power of the human mind and spirit. He quite literally changed the world with his sunshine: joy, love, liberation and resistance! His presence was nothing short of pure strength. Big ups MY LION!

Life is funny in a way as the last few years prepared me for this moment, but nothing really prepares you for the day. In our last family trip to Jamaica, he took us to the cubicle size home - which is now only ruins - where he spent some of his formative childhood and teenage years. He said: “ those were tough years, but I manifested my whole life in that place. I knew I would be all over the world”. It was a true blessing to have us standing in that cubicle as an ancestral dream: in gratitude for their lives and in full joy of ours!

Nothing quite like finitude to help us surrender to our human condition and crack us back open to the great mystery.

May we keep celebrating his music and legacy as he wished and deserves: with joy, truth, consciousness and laughter! Thank you all that have done so and to all that have reached out expressing love and reverence to this transition.

The words that come to me now are only that of a daughter. He did his absolute best and loved all of his children. His spirit lives on through all 19 of us: Aaron, Norman , Odessa, Sayeed, Naima, Luqman, Aesha, Omar, Kadijah, Safa, Sana, Romeo, Amir, Hassan, Azza, Azama, Nabiyah, Lilty and Aken.

Your word will always be with us.

You did it papa. Welcome home.

Nosso Leão atravessou para o outro lado.

Ele existe agora em pura alegria ao lado de Christine (sua mãe física), Lilbert (seu pai físico) e Tio Billy (seu irmão físico). Ele se senta junto a todos os servidores da arte que ajudaram a trazer alegria, reflexão e realinhamento para este plano de existência. Sei que ele está maravilhado com a vida que criou.

Meu pai foi um mestre manifestador que compreendia o poder latente e inato da mente e do espírito humanos. Ele literalmente mudou o mundo com seu brilho: alegria, amor, libertação e resistência! Sua presença era nada menos que pura força. Salve MEU LEÃO!

A vida é engraçada as vezes. Os últimos anos me prepararam para este momento, mas nada realmente nos prepara para o dia. Em nossa última viagem em família à Jamaica, ele nos levou a pequena casa ( literalmente um cubículo)— agora apenas ruínas — onde passou alguns de seus anos formativos ainda criança e adolescente. Ele disse: “aqueles foram anos difíceis, mas eu manifestei toda a minha vida naquele lugar. Eu sabia que me espalharia pelo mundo todo”. Foi realmente uma benção divina estar em pé naquele cubicle como um sonho dos nossos ancestrais: em gratidão as suas vidas e honrando as nossas!

Nada como a finitude para nos ajudar a nos render à nossa condição humana e nos reabrir para o grande mistério.

Que continuemos celebrando sua música e legado como ele desejou e merece: com alegria, verdade, consciência e risadas! Obrigada a todos que já o fizeram e a todos que entraram em contato expressando amor e reverência por esta transição.

As palavras que me vêm agora são apenas as de uma filha. Ele fez absolutamente o seu melhor e amou todos os seus filhos. Seu espírito vive em cada um de nós, os 19: Aaron, Norman, Odessa, Sayeed, Naima, Luqman, Aesha, Omar, Kadijah, Safa, Sana, Romeo, Amir, Hassan, Azza, Azama, Nabiyah, Lilty e Aken.

Eu desconheço uma ponte mais potente, um hiato mais certeiro entre humano, natureza e divino do que a arte da música. Deve ter sido isso que me veio quando escrevi: “here you can climb out of your deep blue well“. Eu me esqueço mil e uma vezes, mas minha voz, o silêncio e o criar me salvam de todas as mais pálidas profundezas da ilusão.

Ser músico é ser ponte.

Por aqui, eu sigo aprendendo com quem sabe viver dessa forma sem se desligar.

I don’t know of any bridge more powerful, any gap that more precisely connects the human, the natural, and the divine, than the art of music. That must have been what came to me when I wrote: “here you can climb out of your deep blue well.” I forget this a thousand times over, but my voice, silence, and the act of creating keep on saving me from the palest depths of illusion.

Being a musician is being a bridge.

I just hope to keep on learning from those who know how to live this way without disconnecting.
