🔸A very happy birthday to @ProfMadhuku.
I wish to give him his flowers today, while he can still smell them.
I am extremely grateful for the law teacher he was when I read law as an undergraduate because that laid a solid foundation for everything I did thereafter. The fundamentals he imparted are still seared to my memory today. He taught us to write crisply, to argue cogently and he imparted his beliefs on what is non-negotiable legally.
I am grateful for his influence on my academic journey. His range is a source of inspiration - from tax and banking to constitutional law. He pushed me to apply to Cambridge for postgrad.
I have argued with and against him inside and outside our highest courts. We have debated robustly and publicly on national issues. This has always been done in an atmosphere of immense professional respect where his rigour, humility and open mind have shone through. He is perhaps one of just a few lawyers who can say “go to hell” in legalese with a smile on his face and smile back when you do the same.
He mentored me when I started out as a law lecturer at the UZ where I modeled my teaching style around his. He never saw my outspoken nature or dynamism around what we could do better as disrespect but always took it as the bona fide enthusiasm that it was. He has given me counsel where I have needed it and lent me support where it may have been unpopular to do so. He helped me maintain clear focus and always keep the main thing the main thing.
I could go on.
We will continue to fight, disagree, debate and argue hard - in and outside court because that’s what he created when we were students in his law lab.
However today, I just wish to say thank you for your impact on me and the profession. Happy birthday.
We need new leaders.🇿🇼
🥶🧊 Lamine Yamal: “What is aura? In football, Cristiano Ronaldo”.
“Aura is a person who gives off, something like when they arrive, it's like… WOW. For example, Brad Pitt or like that”.
“In football, Cristiano would be a good example of aura”.
🔸Today is a dark, dark day for our nation. A black cloud hangs over us. Our democracy has been in a coma for years but today, it breathes its last. Mourn we must. Tragedy, thy name is Zimbabwe.
We need new leaders.🇿🇼
🚨 Cristiano Ronaldo: “I will not be ‘more Cristiano’ if we win the World Cup, or ‘less Cristiano’ if we don’t win it”. 🏆🇵🇹
“I’m grateful to life. I’m enjoying every single day, I’ve been lucky. I learned to enjoy day by day”.
@WhatsApp I'm not sold. This so called upgrade is the biggest downgrade. WhatsApp is not a public platform like X, FB etc. I'm comfortable to share my number with anyone I connect with on WhatsApp.
@BorderTino30@nkabi19 My guy, your comparing someone who's paid millions to do nothing and a hardworking lady who's paid a few thousand dollars for cooking at an event. That doesn't make sense.
🚨🇵🇹 Cristiano: “I know that whoever works hard, God helps him. It was a tough week, a dark one, it started as if I had retired from football”.
But I held on as I always hold on because I believe in work more than football. It was tough, I have to admit, but we came back”.
I saw you win
I saw you lose
I saw you draw
I saw you score a lot of goals
I saw you miss a lot of goals
I saw you comeback
I saw you get comeback
I saw you winning trophies
I saw you losing trophies
I saw you at your best
I saw you at your worst
But I will never, ever stop supporting this beautiful footballer that you are, See you in the next game.
Portugal I will support you to the very end. Cristiano Ronaldo I love you to the very end
