1. MORTALITY LOWERED @ HEALTH FACILITIES WHEN MEDICAL INTERNS WERE NOT DEPLOYED FOR SEVEN MONTHS (Intern Medical Doctors kill patients)

2. NAMES OF INTERN DOCTORS ARE WRITTEN IN PENCIL (Intern Medical Doctors are erasable)

I think this is the right time to thank the Leader of the OppositionHon Joel Ssenyonyi for the continuous fight and pressure against the regime’s refusal to pay medical interns.

As we speak, the government has agreed to pay every medical intern and release those who were recently arrested. This is what persistent leadership and standing up for the people can achieve.

Rt Hon @JoelSsenyonyi has welcomed Govt’s recognition that medical interns require adequate facilitation, following the Government’s decision to drop its earlier policy of not facilitating them.

However, he urged that there be a discussion on increasing the one-million-shilling allowance they are to receive, citing inflation and the rising cost of living over the years, and the hard-to-reach areas they are to work in.
