Can LLMs Extract Meaning from Clinical Data?
Part I of this series gives an overview of extracting meaning from structured and free-text medical records. In future parts, I'll describe semantic normalization before and after transformers & LLMs

@ylecun 3. Less than 2xPi km. The radius of the circular path through P will be less than 1km because the arc on the earth surface from the pole to P (roughly the hypotenuse) is 1km. I feel like I'm back in high school again and you remind me of my math teacher, thx Prof. @ylecun😀
Recently had an ER visit for dehydration while out of town. Received some labs and 3 IV bags. Here's the bill- AFTER insurance. It's no wonder medical debt is the top cause of bankruptcy in the U.S. 🏥💸 #HealthcareCosts#MedicalDebtCrisis
@mcuban ... cancer clinical trials in equal proportions as other race/ethnicities. It's a matter of trust - "e.g. am I being listened to? do I feel being cared about?". This applies to other minorities as well. It undermines the medical knowledge we have to make clinical decisions. 2/2.
@mcuban The truth could be somewhere in between. I've heard from Asian doctors that they are not taken seriously when they are patients unless they mention their medical background. I also participated in a cancer study as an interview subject about why Asians do not enroll in ... (1/2)
@TheEconomist What’s with this clickbait rubbish? Can’t you write clearly that lead chromate adulteration in turmeric kills people? I should take all your headlines with a grain of PbCrO4 I suppose.
@drkeithsiau This is most likely photoshopped - I mean generative AI-ed (getting with the times) - since there's very few anecdotes or case reports of candiru fish in urethera. But the moral of the story is do not urinate in the river where candiru fish lives - or any river for that matter.
Congratulations to the winners! Join the Nightingale platform to do pioneering #healthcare#ml research and discover new medical knowledge on large data sets. Use @NightingaleOS as your teaching lab too.
@alexgraveley By code, do you mean programming - as in human reasoning requires learning to code, or even math for that matter? Many bio/medicine scientists might disagree. Human reasoning is based on common sense and understanding cause -> effect, and LLMs can’t do either (…yet?)
