Left-leaning liberal-FWIW! Finding labels increasingly tiresome&limiting.Aspiring to not just state my values in the good times but live them in the stormy ones
@GeoffreyLean Blackfriars station, London, another good one - 4,400 panels provide 50% of station’s energy
Interesting, too (tho irrelevant): have also just discovered that, as Blackfriars’ platforms span the Thames, it is the only London station with two postcodes

@ToBo_CH@NoblesLawFirm@Microinteracti1 Well, great. You do you. Doesn’t mean we can’t both be pleased that those who are there are having a fantastic trip and party and that the US is extremely good at putting on this kind of bash.
Enjoy the football
Lost on a run in the scorching English countryside, delirious with thirst and fatigue, I see a sign up ahead. Could it be? Yes, it’s what I’ve been praying for:
@ToBo_CH@NoblesLawFirm@Microinteracti1 Sure but am more talking of day-to-day grassroots hospitality. Am not there & no horse in this race. Bt what I’ve heard consistent w this
Personally found E Coast Americans exhaustingly over-friendly & perfectly suited to this kind of event (cf Disney theme parks, also amazing)
@NoblesLawFirm@Microinteracti1 The United States on form excels at hospitality and, from the sound of it, you are displaying that at its finest. Thank you for ensuring that so many people are having such a great time and will leave with amazing memories (and not only of the football) ⚽️
By far my favourite Scotland vs Brazil story is the referee saying “Good luck, may the best team win” to both captains before the game in 1982 and Graeme Souness replying “I fucking hope not”
@TheRabbitHole Not saying police overreach never happens - but Communications Act also includes harassment, some domestic abuse offences & stalking/cyberstalking. Exact breakdown is not available, unfortunately
However, this sort of hysterical nonsense is neither constructive nor representative
Ban, ban, ban.
That’s all this government will do, no perception of giving people free choice, no perception of educating on the dangers of something, just an outright ban every time.
One of the least liberal governments in this country’s history.
@lolausedtorun It’s a process but you’ve got this. And you don’t have to do it alone, there are people out here who understand. AA is some of the best mutual support going x
@Philgebunts@whippletom Fine. But say you’re long-term unemployed or patchy work history w gaps, tho w caring responsibilities/volunteering/other experience you’re unsure how to frame to employers. Is actually useful. Also, you’re signing on & unlikely to have huge disposable for bespoke careers advisors
@whippletom Not cross but do believe could be super valuable tool. Not knowing where to start, address gaps etc v real problem
Recruitment’s already a mess, not future issue - exacerbated by instant applications eg LI Fast Apply. Orgs swamped bt poor quality matches w 1 AI talking to another?!

@SonySunshine1@Danjsalt Europe: A History also fun. But huge. Chunky one to fit in your handbag for afternoon in a cafe 😉. Accessible though and probably also works v well as audiobook
@Danjsalt@simonmontefiore Keith Thomas’ mighty Religion and the Decline of Magic is the perfect combination of storytelling and scholarship. So readable. Read as a teenager and brought history to life in a very real way, even then
