I set Opus 5 on an overnight Elves run to work on a presentation I had to give today and, at some point during the night, it convinced itself that I was giving the presentation on an old school projector

It then got neurotically obsessed with the color rendering problems of those old projectors, and made a whole ton of changes to the presentation that made it look awful

Fortunately, I checked it early enough this morning that I was able to fix it in time, but it was a true comedy of errors

4.5 was a model I really enjoyed. Seems like it started when they announced that "Claude constitution" bullshit.

The Claude being lazy is possibly the WORST outcome as of recently.

It would rather make shit up, rather than read a damn config on my system and then you call it and it's like "Oh let me check rather than guess"

Claude has only gotten worse since the whole Fable blocked incident. Opus 5 is really fucking terrible.

The whole reason I built ScaffoldBench was that I often found Claude doing shit I didn't ask it to do.

Opus 5 does this nonstop. It runs off on it's own and down rabbit holes and started editing parts of the code you didn't ask it to touch. It can't stop itself.

The current useless start of Fable and Opus 5 being generally shit and Sonnet 5 not being much better... I think I'm in the same boat.

I'm done with Anthropic. Scaling back to API usage and canceling my 20X MAX plan.

@picosaurus @johnennis Compound nouns is such a good way of naming it. had this happen sometimes in 4.6, but with 5 models it's EVERYWHERE.

worse is when it invents compound nouns to confidently justify that its extreme guardrails are necessary for a cooking question
