We fools are doing fisherman politics in Chennai. Fit for nothing. Neither can the fisherman keep it neat and clean and aesthetic. Neither will the people of this city use the new fish market to buy fish in hygienic surroundings. Neither do they have a vision to build cleaner, better and more beautiful but call it flouncy names like ‘Marina’ and ‘Foreshore Estate’ - Madras knew class. Dravidiyas have turned Chennai into a dump yard of their mediocrity. Cha.
@chiragbarjatya I have no idea why cab drivers in India like to call multiple times asking dumb questions like where's the pick up point. Like, it's written on the app????
Two global powerhouses?
Oh please, I see only ONE.
Singapore is what competent governance actually looks like. It's pro-growth and has strong rule of law. They CANE vandals, graffiti scumbags, and anyone who thinks they can trash a world-class city. Imagine that? The streets are clean and safe for families. Merit and results are favored over feelings and cheap sloganeering.
You? You took one of the greatest cities in human history and ran it straight into decay and decline. Knife crime has exploded on your watch, phone snatchings have soared, and the rate of robberies and violent crime with injury are way up. Young Londoners are so terrified to walk certain streets that many have moved to safer towns in the countryside. The streets are filthier, the tube is far more unreliable and chaotic, and businesses and talent are fleeing London.
Your woke policies are the EXACT OPPOSITE of Singapore's and the results are clear.
And don't get me started on how you've poisoned race relations. London is now a seething cauldron of division and resentment. While Singapore builds unity through shared standards, forced integration, and zero-tolerance enforcement, you've peddled woke grievance politics that pit communities against each other. You've obsessed over "structural racism" and "anti-Blackness," pushing narratives that scream institutional guilt at every turn, all the while anti-white sentiment and antisemitism have surged to horrifying levels on your watch. Jewish Londoners living in fear, synagogues needing extra security, streets filled with chants that call for their destruction. You downplay it, equivocate, and let the marches roll on with kid gloves.
Two-tier policing has gone off the charts with police being harsh on some protests, soft on others depending on the identity or cause. Native Londoners and white working-class communities feel abandoned and demonized, while certain groups get a free pass.
Your own office even put out garbage claiming a White family "doesn't represent real Londoners." You've fanned the flames of resentment instead of demanding assimilation, excellence, and color-blind law and order.
So sorry, but London *was* a powerhouse, but that was before your tenure. It's not anymore.
In 1946, a young Lee Kuan Yew stepped off the boat into a battered London still licking its wounds from war.
Amid the mess, he witnessed something miraculous - an unsupervised newspaper stall at Piccadilly Circus. People stopped, dropped their coins, took their paper, and walked on. There was no attendant, no fear of theft.
“This,” he thought, “is civilisation. A high-trust society where men police themselves.”
He carried that vision home.
In the 1960s, as Singapore stumbled out of colonial rule - poor, swampy, fractious - Lee vowed to forge his city state into that London he saw first hand.
Over time, Lee transformed Singapore into an orderly, courteous, disciplined, garden of trust rising from a chaotic swamp.
Now the tables have turned as London, once the beacon, slides into low-trust decay. It's only accelerated under your leadership. It went from high-trust to low-trust to now, negative trust.
There's actually a huge trust deficit now.
The former colony has now surpassed its former colonial master as the latter forgot how to govern.
Singapore actually has the playbook. Since you're there, you might as well learn from the best.
Polite request to elderly parents:
If you don't want to burden your adult children who are already struggling with their jobs, their EMIs, their financial or relationship issues, then please take care of your own health.
Lifestyle diseases like diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol problems can easily be managed by seeing your doctor regularly and taking medicines daily.
The last thing an already stressed adult child wants is an elderly parent suffering with a heart attack or stroke due to inadequate control of their diabetes or raised BP.
Diabetes and BP complications are easily preventable.
In your good health, lies the happiness of your child. One less burden for them.

About 70.2% of formal workers in Malaysia earned RM5,000 or below as of Dec 2025, highlighting cost-of-living pressures.
Bank Muamalat chief economist Afzanizam Rashid told BH that this group is the largest segment of the workforce and is particularly vulnerable to rising prices, especially in urban areas.

Ethiopia was never colonized.
For much of its history, it was one of the poorest countries on the continent.
Meanwhile, Vietnam was colonized by the French, devastated by decades of war, and is now on its way to serious economic prosperity.
If colonialism were the answer to why Africa is poor, Ethiopia should be rich and Vietnam should be broke. Neither is true.
Can we please retire this excuse?
The hotel that burnt in Delhi had permission for 6 rooms.
They built 25.
They needed NOCs from the fire department and probably the municipality to operate.
They didn't have it.
They were supposed to have a fire escape and an evacuation plan
They didn't.
Every building should be built in such a way that they should give free access to the fire brigade
They didn't.
On the above violations alone, they should have been shut down.
Yet, not only where they operating, they were literally flourishing.
Today 21 people died brutal deaths, including an entire family of 8, because the govt servants that were supposed to ensure stuff like this doesn't happen, took money and looked the other way.
21 innocent people, some of them medical patients, were burnt to death, because a group of people who were supposed to do their job, didn't do it.
21 people looking forward to their lives, were terminated, because a group of rapacious govt servants decided that bribe money was more important than people's lives.
Because for the govt, the value of a life lost due to government negligence, is worth Rs 2 Lakhs in Ex-Gratia.
The bribe amount of looking the other way, is many times that.
And the sad part is, every member involved in the heinous act of allowing this hotel to run and burn, will keep their jobs, get their salary, get the dues that the 8th Pay Commission will inevitable shower on them get promotions where they will take more bribes and kill more people and then retire into a glorious sunset with index linked pensions.
And the guy who ran this hotel. Nothing will happen to him.
He will blame some underling, get a new GST no in his wife's name and then run 14 other hotels like this.
P:S: The Delhi CM has ordered a "Magisterial" enquiry. What's the point of it all, when the so called "Magistrate" might also be the part of this food chain.
P:P:S: If the govt is so serious about punishing the people, let them book every govt officer involved in this in a case of Murder. And then jail them for life.
Anushka Sharma left India to live in 4 AQI of London, eats the most unadulterated food items in the world, jogs in clean lanes, lives around the most advanced healthcare system.
Then comes home occasionally and preaches unscientific cures using Homeopathy to Indians who breathe in 400+ AQI Air, eat adulterated food and walk in garbage and dirt.
MY REPLY TO THIS:
Oh spare us the fake outrage wrapped in racial poison.
A reckless driver kills a family — that is a crime, not a Chinese conspiracy, not a Malay tragedy, not your excuse to stir hatred. The moment you drag race into it, you expose exactly what you are.
Let me make this very simple for you:
The law under the Road Transport Act 1987 applies to everyone, regardless of race.
If the penalty is inadequate, then argue to amend the law — don’t turn it into a racial circus.
And blaming Anthony Loke as if he personally sits in court deciding sentences just shows how little you understand how the system works.
“This Chinese guy is wealthy, he will hire great lawyers…”
So now having legal representation is a Chinese privilege? Or are you just upset that due process exists?
And “we must voice up together for the Malay family”?
No. We voice up for justice for the victims, full stop. Not Malay justice. Not Chinese justice. Just justice.
Because if tomorrow the driver were Malay, Indian, or Martian — the issue would still be the same:
reckless driving, weak enforcement, and whether our laws are sufficient.
People like you don’t want justice — you want anger, division, and easy scapegoats.
And frankly, Malaysia has enough problems without you trying to turn every tragedy into a racial scoreboard.
Today's Chennai is neither the peaceful green collection of villages of the 1920s, nor is it a modern metropolis like Bangkok or even Colombo for that matter.
What people are defending in the replies here, is unplanned urban sprawl which happened in the past 60 years. Skyscrapers actually help environment by vertically concentrating residential and commercial areas - leaving more space for urban greenery - like Central Park in NY.
I really hope Srilankans get their act together and bury their differences and fix their economy soon.
We watched China leave us behind in the 90s, then Vietnam. Maybe when SL also jets ahead, our people will introspect atleast then ?
Why would a man admit he dislikes travel?
It says he’s some combination of poor, boring, incurious, bad at planning, unadventurous, low energy.
May as well tattoo his head with “I hate fun”
