If you work in a large firm where landing a promotion is highly competitive, you will not be getting a promotion in that cycle if the feedback from your bosses says things like:
‘You are a fantastic team member’
‘You have skin in the game’
‘You work really hard’
Your feedback from them needs to be black & white:
Words like: I am supporting Ore for a promotion this cycle because she had X opportunity, turned it into Y, and it had a massive Z impact on the team.
Stop collecting meaningless praises in the name of feedback; you are not a toddler.

Let’s do some technical coaching you didn't ask for 👇
Articulate the fact patterns of work problems like an expert.
This will make you look like a million bucks, so pay attention.
Before trying to solve a problem, get clear on what is actually happening.
Ask:
📌 What is the problem, and can I name it precisely?
📌 What is the primary driver?
📌 Why does this problem exist now?
📌 Is this a recurring issue or one-off?
📌 What dates, deadlines and milestones matter?
📌 Who is involved, including their names, teams and roles?
📌 What is the impact on the team if it persists?
Be specific about the consequences:
Deadlines missed
Revenue lost
Customer trust damaged
Relationships strained
Risk increased
Then identify your knowledge gaps
What don’t you know yet?
What information is missing?
Who do you need to speak to?
What assumptions are you making?
You don't need to have every answer immediately, but you do need to articulate what you know, what you don't know, and what must be clarified next.
That is what it means to understand the fact pattern.
Do this before you attempt to solve the problem.
Ideally, within the first few hours of an issue coming to your attention, establish:
The problem
Its drivers
The people involved
The timeline
The impact
The information gaps
Then, when you engage a stakeholder, you can bring them up to speed quickly, clearly and credibly.
That is how you move from ‘We have a problem’ to ‘Here is what is happening, what it means, what we still need to know, and what happens next.’
Happy 70th Birthday, Mum!
Wishing you a beautiful day filled with love, joy, good health, and many more blessed years ahead. I feel truly blessed to have you as my mother-in-love. Thank you for your love, kindness, support and the warmth you bring to our family.
May God continue to bless and keep you always.
We love and celebrate you today and always.
There is so much greatness within you. So much. But you will have to bring it to the surface through digging.
Dig, dig, dig.
Do not permit yourself to do what’s easy.
Do the hard thing, and when you have done all of that, time will reveal the greatness within you.
