Jack Eichel not as good as people say. Hard to notice. Lots of secondary assists. There seems to be a charitable effort toward propping him up. Underwhelming in the Olympics. Not a gamer like Marner, Stone or Theodore. Guy went 7 games in a row without a point this season.
@AlexMou04993895 Jack is quite a good player. He has 63 points in 59 playoff games. That said, people regard him as a top 5-10 player in the league. He’s talked about constantly. I think he’s overrated relative to how people rate him. It’s not that controversial of a take.
@SoulsOfSvoboda “He’s not objectively overrated” — I didn’t say “objectively” but you pretend I did because you’re probably a maniac.
“Consensus - including many coaches around the league disagree with you” yeah exactly that’s my point. I’m saying he’s overrated lol.
@SoulsOfSvoboda I get it man. My point is he’s overrated. He’s not the all-world player we pretend he is. We move the proverbial goal post saying things like “well watch him do this” — I’ve watched a lot of Jack Eichel. I get it. He’s a pedestrian flex for ivory tower overlords.
@dukeofmissouri I think prime Jonathan Toews is the most valuable player of the 21st century. I understand. Your Barkov counterpoint to a made up argument you fantasized about is cringe.
@mattygreek19 If someone decided a 30% on a test was a passing grade then “it’d still be a passing grade.” If a tertiary assist counted as an assist then you’d say “it’s still an assist” — but it’s not so you don’t. It’s an arbitrary threshold.
@TJWarrior45 Mark Stone is very obviously better than Jack Eichel. But it’s a very unappealing thing to say or admit. That comparison puts Jack Eichel into perspective imo.
@TJWarrior45 He’s made some hits so I don’t think so. He’s just not that good. He’s good obviously, but he’s like the 50th best player in the NHL maybe. Easily the most overrated player in the NHL.
