@DonovanBuilds@resetbasis Those of us who been in the space for a while normalize it, but it’s not normal to many. Extremely hard way to make $ with other options present. Especially with Tbills at 4% no risk.
@DonovanBuilds@resetbasis I’m selling some SF homes rn in my portfolio. Have not sold in 4 yrs. Can’t believe how much work I had to do to get a clear title. I think the main issue for wealthy folks who made money outside of RE is they see all the friction. So many Ave’s where things can go wrong.
You can’t explain the evils of socialism to a young person while they are forced to go $80,000 in to debt to get the same job their father got with an apprenticeship
Or while their tech job, that they were told was a golden ticket. is being actively outsourced to India
When they are unable to start a family or buy a home until they’re 35 or 40 while they watch private equity scoop up every stater home and turn it into a rental, or watch a boomer/genxer buy them up and turn them into an Airbnb
You might still be right, but they can’t hear you until you care about and address the problems eating our country whole
@DonovanBuilds the question always is do you even have the right documents to review? Title companies have gotten so bad at this. As you know lol. Have to pay for your own title work now to verify.
Please read and share— We 4 Democrats on Commissioners Court were elected on a platform to support smarter and more compassionate government— mental health instead of just incarceration, paid family leave and early childhood education, supporting veterans, victims of domestic violence, and more. Over the past two years, two of the Democratic Commissioners have done everything they can to appeal to GOP voters at the expense of those communities and movements that elected them. (eg. Voting for unfunded pay raises for police officers). They have bankrupted the county, forcing cuts on basic programs on which we were elected. They didn’t need to force cuts to basic services in order to give law enforcement raises. Last year, they elected not to do both. Now at commissioners court, Commissioner Ellis has made a motion that gives them a chance to not turn their backs on the people that elected them. Today, they already killed Harris County’s early childhood programs, when all they needed to do was take the question to the voters. They have ridiculously massive contractor-funded war chests. We redrew districts that benefit them. What are they waiting for? Why run as Democrats if the sum total since 2023 is cut of progress we made as a Democratic Court from 2019-2022. And a county in the red for the first time in recent memory. Democrats in Commissioners Court have until the end of the day today to avoid unnecessary cuts to basic services. Which side are we on?
When you peel back the layers, it becomes clear—when a group of planners and activists can’t get their way, they’re perfectly willing to jeopardize the entire city’s future just to carve out a small utopia for themselves.
Zoning will only hurt minority groups and lower-income neighborhoods. It will increase property values in the most desired zip codes of Houston even more. Currently, the only way to do this is through deed restrictions.
Who do you think would decide how the zoning rules go into effect?
Zoning would be a complete disaster.
