Portugal being left with only six minutes left to find a goal after producing that shower of shit was hilarious. An absolute abomination of a team that nullifies its own talent better than any opponent ever could. Good riddance.
@ahoworth97@isbkch Elias, don't come for Ali like that - he's one of the most knowledgeable and insightful people I've come across when it comes to African teams and African football
@TheOddSolace Ive never really rated Petkovic that highly tbh, even from his time in charge of Switzerland I always felt that his team was missing something
30 teams left in the World Cup and only 1 left from Asia (Australia).
And let’s be honest, Australia aren’t from Asia they just got moved there because there was no competition in the OFC.
FIFA should award more spots to Africa and CAF.
The shame, the humiliation of #Nigeria’s @NGSuperEagles absence from the @FIFAWorldCup is becoming more pronounced, as it is currently played. Those responsible for bringing this monumental disgrace to the nation MUST GO!
90% - @CAF_Online teams had the highest group stage progression rate of any confederation at the 2026 FIFA World Cup:
90% - CAF (9/10)
83% - CONMEBOL (5/6)
81% - UEFA (13/16)
Flying.
People are not willing to put their racial biases aside when watching African football.
That is the uncomfortable truth behind so much of the way AFCON and African sides are discussed.
When Schweinsteiger calls Ivory Coast “wild” or “unorthodox”, it feeds into a familiar stereotype: African teams as chaotic, unstructured and poorly coached.
But anyone who actually watched AFCON 2025 properly would have seen well-drilled sides, clear tactical plans, intelligent adaptations and coaches solving real problems.
We were one of the very few creators on this and other platforms looking to cover AFCON from a tactical perspective.
The issue is not a lack of quality or structure. It is the lens people bring to the football before the game even starts.
Too many viewers are looking for chaos, funny clips and “unpredictability” rather than analysing African sides with the same seriousness they afford Europe or South America.
As Thierry Henry said: if you do not watch African football, that is on you.
But do not mistake your lack of attention for a lack of tactical sophistication - @sjatfkb
Dead rubbers and "convenient" draws (still Algeria vs Austria to come), have become, inadvertently, the perfect spot for an extra-large, 64-team #WorldCup: 16 groups of 4 teams each, top 2 qualify for the R32, no more of this best 3rd placed teams nonsense
@Renegadebastard@piersmorgan Honestly baffles me how theres fully grown adults that think Ronaldo is anywhere near Messi - he's never been on his patch, Messi plays a different sport to anyone else
