WHERE IS KASMUEL?
Kasmuel McOure (@_Kaskazini) has been unreachable since the evening of yesterday; we are appealing for your help to locate him. As a charismatic voice on the #RejectFinanceBill2024, Kasmuel has been on the forefront of expression and youth leadership. If you attended the last @AfrolectJazz, you will remember his positive energy as he MC-ed the Afrolect International Jazz Festival.
We continue to stand on the side of freedom of expression and the rule of law; even against this backdrop of needless violence and suppression. We ask that the government exercise a sense of nationhood and lend an ear to the voices of this country. We commend all Kenyans who peacefully continue to exercise their right to free speech.
We pray for the safe return of Kasmuel McOure.

Yesterday the Kenyan Music industry lost another icon. @JahmbyKoikai
You will hear many tales about Njambi’s generosity, and they are most likely true. Njambi had a big heart; she gave generously to many who came her way.
In 2016 or thereabouts Njambi approached me to be her music director - she wanted a new sound with more horns and new arrangements and hence began a long artistic collaboration, and for me, a deeper understanding of reggae. We even made some records that she did not get to put out.
Njambi was instrumental in the first solo concert for the @nairobihorns at the MJC; she provided all the equipment, and helped produce the show in spite of being in really bad health then - I had never produced a live concert before. In fact, she fell so ill she had to be taken to hospital in the middle of the concert! But that was Njambi; always doing the most.
When some of my musician colleagues @amanibaya@jackmuguna were arrested on fraudulent noise pollution charges in 2018, she reached out in the middle of the night threatening to use some of the funds she was raising for her surgery to pay their bail - whatever amount it would be.
Njambi brought a lot of people together, and converted a lot of us into reggae fans; she fought to take reggae mainstream - we actually took reggae to a jazz stage.
Here’s a short tribute set by @nairobihorns played in her honour during her 2019 Safaricom Jazz Concert.
Thank you for your gift, and your fight. Shine your light on your way Fyah Mummah!
@CafeGeco remains as a leading live music spot in Nairobi; #UrbaneTuesdays is how your week starts with great acts every week. Asante sana Jack Muguna and your band for the vibes. Lovers of Jazz, Live Music and Good vibes MUST make a date and come check us out at #UrbaneTuesday!
So grateful for a beautiful and memorable jazz event thanks to #BCJazzNairobi#JazzForGood and @NairobiHorns who ended it in style. Definitely coming back next year.
Had a fabulous time yesterday at the inaugural @bobcollymore International Jazz Festival. What a great way to celebrate Bob’s legacy of unconditional love for Jazz music that he bequeathed us and the many he mentored and supported. Great performance and delivery by the legends - @ParseenMusic , Jacob Asiyo, Kavutha, the @NairobiHorns Project (exceptional performance!!) and Shamsi music. I missed the Ghetto classics and Safaricom Youth Orchestra !!! Let’s do this again. We are sold out to this. Asante sana @WambuiKamiru and @BCfoundKenya. #jazzforgood #BCJazzNairobi
My jazz faves @NairobiHorns@ShamsiMusicKE knocked it out of the park yesterday. Actually everyone who performed did. Those two groups though - I fell in love with them the first time they performed at #SafaricomJazz ♥️♥️. I am always excited to listen to them. #BCJazzFestival
