Hayawi hayawi, huwa! 🥳
We are so pumped to unveil to you our new civic digital platform, BungeMeter, an AI-powered platform that transforms parliamentary information from static records into meaningful civic intelligence, empowering Kenyans to engage more actively in democratic governance.
Did you know that you can track what your MP is doing in Parliament in real time? You could even drill down to the issues and themes they most care about.

Today, we mark the #InternationalDayofParliamentarism.
In a time of economic uncertainty, rapid technological change, and growing calls for accountability, strong parliaments matter more than ever.
Parliament is the heartbeat of democracy. It must be open, responsive, inclusive, and accountable to the people it serves.
For Kenya, this day is a reminder that citizens deserve a Parliament that listens, protects their rights, and turns their voices into meaningful action.
At @MzalendoWatch, we are committed to strengthening Parliament as an institution that puts Kenyans first through greater transparency, accountability, and citizen participation.
And we're taking that commitment a step further. A new civic tech tool is coming, one that will bring Parliament, its processes, and its members closer to every Kenyan.
Stay tuned.

Leadership. Faith. Accountability.
On Saturday, 20 June 2026, we held a Youth Civic Dialogue at the @PceaSyokimau under the #VIBE project to explore how these forces shape participation, public and leadership in Kenya.
#VIBE#Inclusion#InclusiveDialogue
Through an interactive debate and Q&A session, young people explored the role of Parliament, challenged assumptions, and asked tough questions about leadership, accountability, and citizen participation in governance

While giving the context of the convening, our Head of Programs, @GWamere outlined @MzalendoWatch 's role and pillars of inclusivity, noting that Biblical tenets are based on non-partiality, reinforcing the inclusion of marginalised groups.
He emphasized on accountability, citing Luke 12:48 that “from everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded,” underscoring that leaders entrusted with responsibility must be held to account.
On openness, he referenced John 3:21 that whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, highlighting citizens’ right to know what happens in Parliament.
He challenged participants to reflect on the roles of the six elective positions, directing Kenyans to Mzalendo's civic tech resources to hold legislators accountable 👉https://t.co/lSNY9LhcUP

You have to constantly zoom out from the dysfunction in Kenya to maintain sanity.
There is someone constantly drilling a hole in the boat, and you can’t just sit there observing quietly.
You can go mad, bwana.
It was an honour to host @TheElders delegation with Kenyan youth for an intergenerational dialogue on climate & nature, conflict, multilateralism, human rights and gender, technology & AI. Founded by Nelson Mandela, @TheElders continue to champion peace, justice & sustainability.
There’s something wrong with your country when it’s mostly foreigners and politicians who can experience a decent, stable lifestyle while citizens struggle.
The most honorable thing you can do as a Kenyan is vote with your memory, not your emotions. Reward performance. Punish failure. That is how a nation corrects itself.
Our story cannot be told without the wazalendo who have walked this journey with us over the past 20 years...The bold dreamers and doers who have helped keep an eye on Parliament since 2005.
The reflections begin...

Raila Odinga was a true champion of democracy. A child of independence, he endured decades of struggle and sacrifice for the broader cause of freedom and self-governance in Kenya. Time and again, I personally saw him put the interests of his country ahead of his own ambitions. Like few other leaders anywhere, he was willing to choose the path of peaceful reconciliation without compromising his core values. Through his life, Raila Odinga set an example not just for Kenyans, but across Africa and around the world. I know he will be missed. Michelle and I send our deepest condolences to his family and to the people of Kenya.

Luigi's back pain reminded me of my best friend in college, whose back pain was the first sign that her breast cancer had metastasized into her bones. She was 24 at the time. We were both working at Basys, writing technical manuals on contract to IBM (this was 35 yrs ago)
