- He was accused of issuing a ₹0.10 ticket instead of ₹0.15 and keeping 5 paise.
- The DTC filed a case against him.
- In 1976, he was dismissed from his job.
- He fought the case in court for decades.
- In 1990, he won in the Labour Court.
- DTC kept appealing, dragging the case in the High Court for over 40 years.
- DTC spent ₹47,000 to recover 5 paise.

In 2016, the Delhi High Court dismissed DTC's appeal and directed it to pay Yadav ₹30,000, along with ₹1.28 lakh as gratuity and ₹1.37 lakh as CPF.

This is how an innocent man’s life was wasted fighting for 5 paise, while ministers commit fraud of crores and live comfortably in London.

This is a true story. A professor in India's premier educational engineering institution caught a student cheating in the exams and suspended him. Next day morning, the boys father who was a senior bureaucrat landed at his home and requested that the matter be forgotten and closed. When the requests and pleadings failed, The professor was warned of consequences. The academic that he was, the professor stuck to his guns.

The harassment started. Within a week an income tax notice was served on him seeking details of his foreign travels. A few days later, police landed up investigating a house purchased by the professor in his home town. Later the income tax investigated the sources of funds for that home. In the process of scrutiny, they questioned a few more 'source of funds'. For a professor working in a remote corner of India, this was all too much. He contemplated giving it all up and taking another job. The notices, hearings, responses and harassment continued for about 20 months. Luckily the professor was clean. His foreign travel was official. The house was in a new housing society set up by a group of academics. The management was supportive.

'For 20 months, they robbed me of my sleep', says the professor. On prodding if he would take a similar stand again, he painfully says 'I doubt'!

If you indeed want to fight corruption, the starting point has to be the source of corruption - the discretionary powers, arbitrariness and their abuse. It is rampant and completely normal. Remove the discretionary powers and 98% honest people will not worry of harassment when they do what is right!

Now that SC has stayed UGC regulation, and there is a bit of breather here is what I want to say. 1990 was a year that changed my life forever. In August 1990, my mother and I fled Kashmir valley. We were the last Hindu family in our neighborhood to flee, because my mother kept hoping against hope that somebody would save us. Nobody did. Ultimately we decided to leave our home. Only home we had. A kind Sikh truck driver agreed to drive us till Jammu and then we were on our own. We sat huddled in the back of that truck too afraid to even weep. We had no belongings except few clothes in a bag and a bundle of papers my mother held close to her bosom in the entire journey. These were her certificates from school and college. She was hoping to find a job based on those certificates. I was too young to have any certificates yet. But she did and that was all we had. Her degrees. Somehow we managed to find roof on our heads in Faridabad, near Delhi. We thought this would at least be an end to some of our miseries.Lo and behold Mandal agitation started. This was a double whammy. Now we were suddenly ‘upper caste’ and for reason unknown to us, Govt of the time had turned against us. We were not privileged, we were not rich, we were so worn down by Islamists that we had no time to reflect on our so called ‘privilege’. But this moment produced a stunning epiphany. We had not been prosecuted in Kashmir valley for our caste. We had been ethnically cleansed because of our faith. It just did not make sense why would Hindus not unite against this existential threat. When Advani ji gave a call of Hindutva and asked everyone to rise above their caste, it made sense to me. In fact that is the only thing that made sense to me. Hindutva keeps Bharat together and Bharat is where Dharma thrives. I often remember that visual of my mother clasping her certificates in one hand and holding my head with her other hand. Many so called ‘privileged castes’ have only one thing to fall back upon. Education and hard work. That is why these UGC regulations were bad faith laws because it takes away freedom from students for whom education is the only passport to success. Regardless of which caste they belong to. Why create battlefields in the campuses? These students will anyway enter the works full of landmines when their education is over.
My humble appeal to the legislators who draft laws and to the Executive who implement laws is this - Don’t do anything that will create further divisions. And my humble appeal to protestors - Dharma is what keeps us together. Dharma is what gives us courage to fight. Dharma will protect us from our enemies. Stay together. Stay United.

@AirIndiaX, today one of your pilots, Capt. Virender Sejwal, assaulted me physically at T1, Delhi Airport.

Here are the facts of the matter,:
🔸 Me & my family were guided to use the security check that the staff uses (also the PRM check), because we had a 4 month old baby in a stroller.
🔸 The staff was cutting the queue ahead of me. On calling them out, Capt. Virender, who himself was doing the same thing, asked me if I was anpadh (uneducated), and couldn't read the signs that said this entry was for staff.
🔸 A verbal scuffle broke out.
🔸 Not able to excercise restraint, the AIX pilot proceeded to physically assault me, leaving me bloody. The blood in the photograph (first comment) on his shirt is also mine.

Here are my issues with the whole thing:
🔹 My holiday is ruined. The first thing I have done here is see a doctor.
🔹 My 7 year old daughter, who saw her father get assaulted brutally, is still traumatized & scared.
🔹 I have no clue how @DGCAIndia & @AirIndiaX can allow such pilots to fly. If they can't keep their cool in a scuffle, can they be trusted with the lives of hundreds of people in the sky?
🔹 How can @DelhiAirport get away with such mismanagement, combining staff entry with passengers carrying infants, creating chaos at a sensitive security area? I thought Airports were safe places!
🔹 I was forced to write a letter stating that I will not pursue this matter further ... It was either write that letter, or miss my flight and throw the 1.2 lakhs holiday bookings down the drain. @DelhiPolice, why can't I file a complaint after coming back? Must I sacrifice my money too, to seek justice? Will the CCTV footage disappear in the 2 days till I make it back to Delhi?

To my friends & well wishers, I am pretty shaken, but nothing permanent. Can't say the same about my daughter though. 😢
