Regarding my fic ‘are there still beautiful things?’…
I understand that many people disagree with the subject matter—at this or any degree of explicitness—being included in fanfiction. I respect that perspective, even though I do not share it.
The views and boundaries I’ve expressed in the past remain the same. This was not written as erotic, kink, or fetish content, nor intended to be interpreted as such.
This story is an exploration of trauma and its aftermath, with care and consideration taken at each step—including an emphasis on the healing process, clear content warnings, and a thorough author’s note to provide context and reiterate intention.
At its core, it was always meant to be a work that represented, supported, and resonated with survivors who actively *chose* to engage with it. And as evidenced by the many personal comments and messages I have received, it has served that purpose for multiple readers. I hope it continues to do so.
But I recognize that this work has also reached people who did *not* opt in to read it. And I am sincerely heartbroken that my words have hurt members of the community, especially those who are survivors themselves.
I understand that this topic is heavy, and that for many it is something deeply personal and not simply a matter of fiction. The last thing I ever wanted was for my work to harm anyone. And although the way things transpired were out of my control, I am deeply sorry to have been part of that equation at all.
Additionally, in the midst of this, I have been deeply misunderstood and misinterpreted. The assumptions and accusations that have been circulating—especially those regarding my intentions or who I am as a person—are wholly incorrect.
But I understand the outrage, and I’m not here to argue or convince anyone of anything.
If this work is too uncomfortable or distressing, I encourage readers to disengage from the fic and its contents. And if my approach to this topic isn’t something people agree with, I also understand choosing not to associate or engage with me or any of my fics moving forward.
I love this community very much, and I’m sincerely grateful to those who have shown support during this time—both publicly and privately—as well as those who have chosen to engage with this fic in good faith.
At the end of the day, I remain very proud of this story, despite its controversy. And I hope to bring you many more stories in the future.
