If you want to become a tech founder, do it from a place of strength. Don’t believe all those Cinderella stories.
As an African, there are only three ways to survive the startup ecosystem:
As long as a woman likes you, you’ll know. Her actions, the way she initiates, the way she acts around you both in public and private, you’ll see it.
A woman in love is an unguarded woman. That’s how Rihanna treats Asap Rocky, defenseless.
You can literally feel it in your soul when it's time. time to move on from people, time to make a change in your life, time to get rid of unhealthy habits, time to want more for yourself. At some point, you'll just know. That's your call.
You can tell a lot about a person by the way they speak of love, especially when they say they do not want it, or that having a partner will become a blockage to the life they are meant to build. More often than not, it is an ideology of love constructed from trauma, disappointment, fear, and the slow humiliation of believing that what they truly desire may never arrive.
Everyone wants love. At the end of the day, when the world has gone quiet and you are lying in your bed with nothing left to perform, to prove, to distract yourself with, the body still seeks warmth, connection, recognition, and the unbearable tenderness of being known by someone who chooses to stay. People deny this and call it freedom because they have started thinking that hopelessness is enlightenment.
Love does not block growth. Love reveals where growth is still required. It will not always arrive as softness, ease, and gilded reassurance. Sometimes it will come as confrontation, rupture, discomfort, patience, repair, and the excruciating demand to remain present with another human being when every wounded part of you wants to run. You have to stay long enough to discover what the love is trying to make of you.
The right love gives you a centre from which you can enter the world with greater courage. You become more free to explore, build, create, risk, and become, because you are no longer moving through life with that quiet, subterranean ache of wondering whether anyone truly loves you, or whether all your striving is only an elaborate attempt to distract yourself from the absence of home.
When you are loved properly, the question of what you are working so hard for begins to answer itself. You are building for a life that can hold love, protect it, honour it, and make it easier for both of you to exist inside the world.
Those who have truly loved know this intimately. Love is one of the most brutal, sacred, and transformative forces through which you truly grow.

We don't want Atiku, we don't want Atiku, that's how we landed with Buhari.
We don't want Atiku, we don't want Atiku, we landed with Tinubu.
Do we really want to dislodge Tinubu or do you want to win social media moral election?
One of the cleaners at my former place of work, always with his Earpiece listening to music while he cleans, i greet everyone at the office like we're pals, hand shake and a "guy hug", eveyone, at the end of most months , i go around giving some of the cleaners 2k each or 1k depending on how much of my salary I've spent before e enter, including the security guys too, i do this because i know how much they earn, and i can tell you its not enough to survive in Lagos, Fast forward to about 6 years later, i had left the organization and i was part of a committee organizing an event for some executives for a retreat at a very nice resort here in Lagos, i never met the manager in person , but we spoke on the phone e few times and i was on the call most of the times with the concierge team. The day we brought the team, the concierge personel was introducing eveyone to the team, and a tall fine gentle man walked in and she said "oh here's our Manager, before i could even open my hand for a handshake, he screamed my name, hugged carried me off my feet, i was still trying to figure out who he was, and he said its me( called his name) , i couldn't believe it , he was the same cleaner guy at my former place of work, now a whole manager?!!!. I hugged him and carried him this time , i was super excited. Apparently while he was a cleaner he was also finishing at National open university, he told how he's always looking forward to the 2k from me every month.😁 . To cut the long story short, i got 70% discount on everything i did, the room, the food i paid almost nothing. 😁. God can lift anyone from anywhere, never look down on anyone , i treat eveyone with same respect.
One of the most bizarre things I observed at Shell was how someone would spectacularly fail at a $$$ project, and instead of being demoted or fired, the opposite happens. They get transferred to manage another high-visibility project or even get a promotion!
It took me a long time to understand this but when I did, it changed everything for me.
You see, performance is measured in most companies on two prongs: the what and the how. The “what” is the actual result: did you or did you not strike oil after drilling that well? The “how” is the behavior you displayed during the entire process.
I was too focused on the actual results but I later found out that leaders rate behaviors higher. Hence, a project might fail in that it did not meet its stated objectives and yet the project manager might come out a winner because of how he carried himself through it all.
So what are the behaviors highly cherished by the higher ups?
First is daily updates. Forget weekly reports. Tell your boss and other key stakeholders about how the project is going at least once a day. When I say “tell”, I mean “tell.” Don’t rely solely on an email or a tool. Find a way to get in their face daily even if just for a min or two to verbally articulate the status of things. The pros at this put a standing 5-10 min meeting on their calendars and they come prepared to discuss the highlights and issues that need addressing. Which leads me to the second point.
Second, involve your superiors in solving the problem. Don’t form James Bond or Jackie Chan, trying to do it all alone. Any issue that will lead to a delay or cost overrun or any other wahala should be brought up asap to be discussed. Much easier to do if you talk with them daily. It is hard for them to blame you on the outcome of a project they have been integral to.
Third, conduct a “lessons learned” session where you perform an autopsy on the dead project. Share these lessons far and wide. You will be hailed as a sage. Suddenly you are now the guy helping the company become better by spreading wisdom gained from the school of hard knocks. This act alone has landed many people their promotion.
Bottom line: you can secure victory from defeat. The high flyers in your company do it all the time. If the project succeeds, they win. If the project fails, they win.
Be like them.
Last year was i achieved this great milestone it’s a personal to me because it wasn’t easy at all.I’d like to use this opportunity thank @TechPeakLab, my mentors @lanceeihoda, @akintunero, and every instructor who made this possible. More wins ahead 🚀
