an API allows two applications to communicate.
clients send requests to endpoints using HTTP methods like GET, POST, PUT, and DELETE to perform CRUD operations.
the backend processes the request and sends a response.
@Hiteshdotcom first time attending the Wednesday Webinar today and honestly, had a lot of fun! π learned a lot and really enjoyed the session. looking forward to joining again! π
explored web development a bit more.
made a small to-do app and worked with localStorage, DOM, events, and a basic API using Node.js.
also got some hands-on experience with GET and POST requests.
building something taught me two things:
- .env stores API keys and passwords outside your code.
- .gitignore tells Git not to commit those files.
.env protects secrets. .gitignore helps keep them off GitHub.
Built an HTTP server in C from scratch.
No frameworks. Just sockets, TCP, and pain.
Handles clients, parses HTTP, routes URLs and serves files.
Turns out every web framework is just thisβ¦
plus layers of abstraction and a lot of polish.
