Looks like Ken Sim and the VPD took that victory lap for “solving” the drug crisis too early.

I’m hearing there are high levels of emergency calls for ODs because of yet another veterinary anesthetic contaminating the illicit drug supply — medetomidine, which causes prolonged sedation. Alerts are coming in from all parts of the province.

Remember: don’t use alone and carry naloxone. Always give naloxone if you suspect opioid overdose, but the person might not regain consciousness because of the medetomidine. If you think it’s an OD, call 911 and follow the directions of the call taker.

Fyi people I've been in multiple hospitals over the last 3 weeks, talked with nurses and I seriously haven't witnessed any crime, chaos, crack smoking, or drug dealing in any of them. There might have been a little embellishing going on! #Healthcare

Visited a couple of consumption sites this week (though I didn’t personally consume psychoactive substances at either one).

One sells - and celebrates! - regulated drugs, and the other allows you to use unregulated drugs safely.

One is socially acceptable and the other isn't.

But remember this if you like to drink at bars — don't judge others for doing what works for them, and what helps keep them alive.
