Zeena Koda posted multiple Instagram stories baselessly defending the new Best Asian Pop category. She is one of the people involved in its creation and she publicly acknowledged that the issue of Asian countries where English is a native or official language was a "really good point." EXCUSE ME?!

So let me get this straight.

You spent months creating an entire category for an entire continent...
...and only after people questioned it did someone involved say, "That's a really good point." (??!!?!??!!)

That's a significant admission because the category's eligibility is based on the "meaningful use of an Asian language".

If a fundamental question about who the category includes or excludes is only being recognized after the category has launched, it raises SERIOUS concerns about how thoroughly the criteria were developed in the first place.

Award categories should be built on clear, carefully considered standards not standards that appear to reveal major blind spots only AFTER the public starts asking questions.
