An injured child waiting almost 2 hours for an ambulance.
A teenager with a ruptured appendix waiting over a day for emergency surgery.
A child waiting 11 hours in an ER for an x-ray.
This healthcare crisis is a parent’s worst nightmare.
It’s time for change.

Humans are successful partly because of our ability to specialize and share knowledge.
However, this raises two problems:
1. We often confuse the knowledge in our heads with the knowledge we have acces to. The result is that we’re ignorant but overconfident. 1/3
This quote by Arundhati Roy lives rent-free in my head: “There's really no such thing as the 'voiceless'. There are only the deliberately silenced, or the preferably unheard.”
Changing one’s mind with evidence is a virtue and should be commended.
It doesn’t mean they “lied” or “flip flopped.” It means they learned and adjusted their beliefs accordingly.
I wish that instead of hating the homeless, we compassionately fought for housing. Instead of hating people who use drugs, we compassionately fought for harm reduction. Instead of hating the poor, we compassionately fought to end poverty.
Compassion over hate. Every time.
But then, @ABDanielleSmith decided to give it oxygen. And when the probable next premier of Alberta is sharing nonsense like this, that's when it becomes a real problem.
If you chase your country’s Deputy Prime Minister onto an elevator yelling obscenities and threats at them and then walk away laughing about it you just may live in one of the world’s freest countries.

New post!
Science textbooks can be frustrating. They start with a “scientific method” (there isn’t one!) & then overwhelm students with facts to memorize.
Here’s my humble attempt at explaining the basics: What science is, how it works, & why matters.

Hey @YourAlberta. Just spit-balling here, but maybe instead of spending our resources on Instagram ads, you could, I dunno, just redirect that money to Albertans????? 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Far too many of our children have fallen behind in academics & social development. We must provide teachers & parents the supports they need.
We cannot fail our kids. They’re more than worth it!

"What are you going to do? Mask forever? That's not sustainable."
Also not sustainable: ER closures, overwhelmed HCW & hospitals, frequent illness, longterm health risks, sick days, flight cancellations, unrelenting waves of infection
