Every "fact" in that Daily Mail piece comes from one person. One. The granddaughter. No court. No coroner finding. No police conclusion. The care home hasn't said a word and the clinicians involved say she consented. The Daily Mail wrote "euthanised against her will" in the headline as a settled fact when it's the exact question two Ontario regulators and Belleville Police are still trying to answer.
Now look at who's carrying it. Breitbart. LifeNews. Daily Caller. The Blaze. Rebel. Slay News. Not one major Canadian newsroom, in a country where a story this big would be on every front page if it held up. It started on a MAID activist's Substack in July, got laundered through a UK tabloid in September, and by Monday US Republicans were using it to campaign against Canada.
That's the pipeline. Same one that gave you "Canada euthanizes veterans for PTSD" and "MAID for the poor." Take a grieving family, strip out the words "alleges" and "under investigation," add a prayer photo, and ship it south so people who've never read the Criminal Code can tell Canadians how our healthcare works.
If a nurse botched an IV and a confused 83-year-old was walked into MAID without valid consent, someone should lose their license and maybe their freedom. That's what the investigation is for. Until it reports, this is an allegation with a marketing budget, and the people screaming loudest don't want the answer, they want the story.
