This morning we executed our largest single-day rotation since $NODE launched, selling ~750bps of defensive, lower-beta names and adding aggressively to many of the AI infrastructure miners that Situational Awareness LP was forced to dump before the open.

Leopold Aschenbrenner built one of the last year's best-performing funds in the world on the same thesis we've been running: AI needs power, and the BTC miners are among the cheapest ways to play it. Unfortunately, 4x leverage turned a bad July into margin calls and the liquidation of his public book.

(Pro tip: if you don't take the other side of forced, leveraged sellers when your favorite stocks become divorced from fundamentals, your longer time horizon, lack of leverage, and diversification benefits lose their edge.)

When $NODE launched a year ago our thesis was that diversification and avoiding undue leverage would generate a higher Sharpe than peers. That thesis has largely played out. Since inception $NODE +46% vs. Bitcoin -37% and our DAPP index +44% (at much higher vol). We might have missed some upside, but we got no margin calls. Through yesterday we were roughly flat on the year.

As for the fundamentals: GPU rental rates are firm. Powered shells are being leased as fast as they're built. To nitpick on one of our top holdings: at yesterday's close $WULF fell to $15, essentially at run-off value on three signed leases including the $19B Anthropic contract, and that's assuming the 10-year rises another 150bps to 6%! You are paying nothing for terminal value. The uncontracted pipeline (Hawesville's remaining ~79MW, Lake Mariner expansion, the new Cayuga site, and Morgantown, which FERC just approved July 29 up to 1GW), is also ours for free. A similar analysis applies to the other triple-net landlords in the space.

With both BTC and some of our highest-conviction names down 50%, we now think diversification is the wrong posture. We're going on offense.
