“Hurry up and finish so I can get on with my work.”
It is said that Marie Skłodowska Curie uttered these words to the photographer during this photo session in her laboratory. This photo was taken at the beginning of the 20th century.
Curie’s tireless dedication to research becomes evident when we look back at her scientific accomplishments. Indefatigable despite a career of physically demanding and ultimately fatal work, she discovered polonium and radium, championed the use of radiation in medicine and fundamentally changed our understanding of radioactivity. For her scientific dedication and remarkable breakthroughs, she was awarded the 1903 physics prize and the 1911 chemistry prize. She was a trailblazing scientist.
Guess who's going to be a doctor!! My friend & @SNMA mentee Kem, accepted @McGovernMed! <3<3 Beyond proud. 🥰 Your future patients are so lucky to have you.
So proud of my @SNMA@TAMUmedicine mentee Kem! 5 years of friendship since my MS1 = her @TAMU bachelor’s, @UTHealthHouston master’s, and soon she’s applying to medical school! 🚀 🥹
“My wish is that this will provide a positive message to the young girls who would like to follow the path of science, and to show them that women in science can also have an impact through their research”

Had to perform an emergent O-C fusion on Christmas Day, for my niece's Clara ballerina with traumatic C-spine injuries. 😄
Pre-op and immediately post-op images:
Strange is our situation here upon earth. Each of us comes for a short visit, not knowing why, yet sometimes seeming to divine a purpose.. There is one thing we do know: that man is here for the sake of other men.. upon whose well-being our own happiness depends

Nancy Mize Gonzalez, member of the LRA’s Young Leaders Board and Scientific Advisory Board, shares that she’s most excited about learning how the brain is affected in lupus.
She’s hopeful that we can diagnose brain fog issues sooner and eventually have treatments that target it.

Beautiful 5K with @TAMUHealth for @SusanGKomen vs. breast cancer. For my sister-in-law currently battling stage 3. 💖 💪 Felt like all of Houston was out wearing pink, running for a cure. 💖 🩷 🎀
Reflecting on a fantastic 14 weeks of neurosurgery - including spine, neuro-vascular, pediatrics, tumor, and skull-based @Dukeneurosurg . . . and @DukeChapel did not disappoint!
Discovered this paper back in 2019 when I was a chief. Me and my senior resident actually did a lot of these workouts in between cases!
Respect to the Orthos who wrote it 🤜🏽
