In 1994 President Clinton & Senate Leader George Mitchell passed an assault weapons ban and a 10 bullet limit with a vote of 52 – 48. That was in place for ten years. Was it hard, yes. Was there a political cost, yes.
So if we could do it in 1994 why don’t we do it now?
