Underrated benefit of reading a great number & variety of books is that it will make you a more interesting person. As C. S. Lewis said, the person who doesn't read lives in a tiny world; reading lends us the perspective of a thousand lives.

“When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.” C. S. Lewis
Amendment 5, the Everything Tax, would override the Hancock Amendment and allow politicians to implement new taxes on groceries with no vote from the public.
10 Ways to Rebel at the End of the School Year as a Teacher
1. Fart in class. Then immediately blame it on the student who has been giving you problems all year.
2. Give extra credit for writing about giant squid. Don’t tell students why.
3. Randomly award “aura” points for sneezing.
4. Plug in the pencil sharpener so it sits on the floor.
5. Call on random students that don’t exist.
6. Declare a student the “Assistant Regional Manager of Learning.”
7. End class with an inspirational quote: “Those who doubt you probably have a good reason.”
8. Make students write with their non-dominant hand and insist it's a research-based strategy for building grit and resilience.
9. Tell students they can't leave class until they can read an analog clock.
10. When students ask what you're doing this summer, say "Swimming across the Pacific, bruh.”
In case you forgot, we live on a planet where lightning turns sand into glass, dolphins give each other names, the ocean glows in the dark, and rain has a scent before it falls. You stand here with a beating heart, a steady moon above, and a world quietly, absurdly beautiful.
NEW from @kytv : A southwest Missouri domestic violence shelter that serves 10 counties says it could lose up to $200,000 in funding per year if Amendment 5 passes on Missouri ballots this August.

Teachers…if we’re not at the table, we’re on the menu.
Having a seat at the table isn’t just about contract negotiations. It’s about discipline policies, grading expectations, curriculum changes, classroom sizes, attendance policies, technology decisions, and countless other choices that directly impact teachers and students every day.
When teachers have no voice in those decisions, they’re often the ones forced to deal with the consequences afterward.
The Articles of Confederation created a loose “league of friendship” among 13 sovereign states with a limited central government.
Because it could not levy taxes, raise a standing army, or effectively regulate interstate commerce, the system proved unworkable and was later replaced by the U.S. Constitution.

Amendment 4 will appear on our primary ballots on August 4, 2026. It would require a majority in EVERY congressional district to pass amendments brought by the people of Missouri — BUT amendments brought by politicians could still pass with a simple statewide majority.
Great. Anyone want to start a pool on what % voter turnout will be? Canvassers will definitely be incorporating this into their discussions. Gotta show up, folks.
@socialstudiestx@historyherway@history_dame In some locations they’re called Caramel deLites. It depends on what part of the country you’re in so which of the bakeries are the supplier.
My APUSH students and I wrapped up the semester by watching the @RetroReport video "Extremism in America." It provoked the best classroom discussions! They were fascinated as we learned about such recent history. https://t.co/VBmDNu8FhH
I said on @MSNOW just now:
What *is* the Trump slush fund?
It's not an appropriation: Congress did not vote.
It's not a settlement: There was no valid litigation because (as the judge said) Trump was suing himself.
On what basis is this money leaving the Treasury?
