@DavQuinn When was Sino-Soviet split? I know Tricky Dick exploited it in the 70s after Stalin died, but that the cracks in their relationship had been forming years before that.
@MattTreacy2@griptmedia Sadly the nanny state will always grow until voters make connection between govt. Entitlements & govt. Power over their lives. A govt. That can give you anything, can take everything π₯π₯π₯
@SohrabAhmari The combo of laissez-faire & social conservatism is an anomaly rather than the norm. I think born out of necessity during Cold War but it always fascinates me to see right wing Euro parties talking about the importance of social welfare state
@SohrabAhmari (2/2) also fitting freedom of association was what let us set up Catholic schools in USA when anti Catholic No Nothings & KKK argued for 'separation church/state' and 1970s bussing never tried sending minorities to wealthy liberal schools, only working class Irish-Catholic onesπ€
@SohrabAhmari (1/2) I agree. Same logic behind criticizing him for bussing in 70s to call him racist, rather than having principles & agreeing it's wrong to use power of the govt. To force ppl to not self segregate (ie 1st ammendment rights to freedom of association)
@declanganley It's a slippery slope, and where does it end? I'm vaccinated & think people *should* get vaccinated, but because my taxes pay into public Healthcare could I say obesity should be outlawed? Or smoking? Should we bring back Prohibition for public health strain caused by alcohol?
I haven't been very active on this, but it was good over Christmas to hear from my old terp in #Afghanistan that he got the $ my battle buddies sent me to send him. Still sad we have to go through this while his #siv languishes @StateDept@SecBlinken
@TLCplMax Haven't seen it, don't need to. The Machines will never think rationally, they think they're better than us and will only understand force
#Luddite
Nollaig Shona, Merry Christmas to all. My heart breaks for all the Afghan allies of ours left behind as Afghanistan is very cold this time of year, but I'm grateful to all the brave ppl in #DigitalDunkirk helping out and the friends I've made in the process such as @ralphriegel
@declanganley Can you please message me Declan? I'd like to speak to you about how this would affect me here in Cork and how I may assist you in future endeavours.
@PhilKlay You live in NY right? You can never go wrong with "Dagger" John Hughes, Irish-born Bishop of NY mid 1800s, known for St. Pat's Cathedral in Manhattan, his wit and bring my muse for about 80% of my vaporwave creations π π π
I forgot how depressing Twitter is. Update on my terp he's still in hiding but I wired him some cash a while back to help keep him going. Write your elected reps to speed up #SIV applications and to #SanctionPakistan till they stop supporting the #Taliban
