Now that the Genesis Challenge is underway—marking the first new distribution of Genesis in nearly two years—I want to take a moment to revisit something:
How we designed Genesis at SyFu, and why.
“What comes next for Genesis holders?”
It is only natural to ask.
But Genesis was never designed to keep people holding by laying out a list of future perks in advance.
Genesis exists to preserve something more fundamental: the fact that its holders were there at the beginning of SyFu, and the place they have held in the ecosystem since its earliest days.
That is why Genesis itself was not designed as an in-game NFT.
Its supply is capped at 3,120, while its role is designed to take shape at meaningful milestones in the ecosystem. Its connection to the Game comes through Origin and Lineage.
It was never meant to be judged only by in-game performance or immediate benefits. We wanted it to remain SyFu’s point of origin.
At the same time, we never intended Genesis to remain purely symbolic.
Each time SyFu entered a new stage, we considered what role Genesis should play at that moment—and then put it into practice.
• Priority Whitelist access across multiple NFT sales
• Pre-Mainnet Super Early Access
• Recognition in the Game’s Trust Rank system
• Origin and TAIYAKI distributions
• Opportunities to receive White TAIYAKI through EVT Contribution
• And more
None of these were promised as a checklist of perks when Genesis originally went on sale.
They emerged—and we delivered them—as SyFu’s product and ecosystem continued to move forward.
The Genesis Challenge is a continuation of that same philosophy.
It puts conditions we outlined in the past into practice within SyFu as it exists today.
It also means the path to Genesis is not confined to a single opportunity at the very beginning. It opens a path for those demonstrating sustained commitment to the ecosystem today.
Going forward, we will not use ideas that have not yet been delivered to define the value of Genesis today.
First, we move SyFu forward.
Then, when a new milestone arrives, we consider what role Genesis should play at that moment and bring it to life.
That approach will not change.
Whether someone chooses to keep Genesis or let it go is entirely up to them.
When Genesis changes hands, it creates an opportunity for it to reach someone new who shares the vision. I see that as a natural part of its journey.
Genesis is not an NFT whose value is determined by:
“What do I get next?”
Its meaning grows alongside:
The time SyFu has spent moving forward.
What we have actually built and delivered at each milestone.
And how far SyFu goes from here.
This is how—and why—we designed Genesis at SyFu.
