Books don’t just sit on shelves they pull chairs closer.
Different lives same hunger for stories. That’s the real magic.
Kakule Bookstore, you’re building more than a shop. You’re building a gathering place. 📚
See you at St Kizito.
Books have a beautiful way of bringing people together. Different people, different stories, one shared love for books.

What does peacebuilding actually look like when you step away from conference rooms, project documents and formal peace agreements?
In this episode https://t.co/U1tKE50wUa we’re joined by Doruba Judith to swap stories and reflections from many years of working with communities.
If the end goal is for local actors to lead, why is it sometimes so difficult to step aside?
And on the other side, are national actors doing enough to prepare themselves to take the lead?

On #WorldHumanitarianDay, we recognise the humanitarian workers and organisations standing with the people of South Sudan.
For millions, humanitarian assistance is not simply support; it is a lifeline. Without food, healthcare, protection, clean water and other essential services, many would struggle to survive.
We thank our donor, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), and all humanitarian organisations working tirelessly to fill critical gaps across South Sudan.
Peacebuilding and humanitarian action are deeply connected. Communities need to survive today while we work together towards a more peaceful and resilient tomorrow.

This #InternationalYouthDay, we celebrate young people who are choosing dialogue over division.
From cattle raiding to cattle trading. From conflict to cooperation. Young people working side by side on peace farms, building livelihoods and creating alternatives to violence.
Three years of Kakule Bookstore being just a little idea on the internet. Three years of packing orders, making deliveries, talking about books, and dreaming about a space of our own.
And now… we have a physical space in Juba.
Last week on the POFCast, we had an engaging conversation with Judith from Saferworld about community-led peacebuilding, partnerships, cross-border collaboration and the lessons we've learned from working alongside communities.
In Pibor 🇸🇸, we met Chief Administrator Gola Boyoi Gola.
We visited the local market & heard how trade is supporting livelihoods.
We also exchanged views on tackling the interconnected challenges of conflict, food insecurity, youth unemployment & lack of infrastructure.
GIRLS HOSTEL AT UOJ
The girls’ internal cafeteria is progressing and taking shape as I visited this afternoon. Something we have been talking about for years. The current maintenance project will upgrade and transform the girls facilities and create a more conducive environment.
Cattle raiding to cattle trading. That's the shift POF2'S Livelihoods Lab is working toward in Pibor because lasting peace rests on viable livelihoods, inclusive decision-making, and community ownership. Grateful for your continued partnership.
So far, communities have pledged; sand, goats, chickens, cows, charcoal.
What they’re saying, “We’re doing our part. We need your help to finish.”
That’s the kind of ownership that makes projects work.
