Stop having imaginary conversations with other people.

You know the ones... the imaginary conversations where you always get in the last word, you get your mike-drop moment, and everyone sees how brilliant and right and wonderful you are.

Imaginary conversations give you a false sense of power and moral superiority.

This is fantasy, and it doesn't help. In fact, most imaginary conversations cause way more relational and physiological damage than they solve.

If you need to have a hard conversation, have it.

Sooner than later. Otherwise, reserve your imagination for more productive things.

Now that I’m a mother, true panic is kinda rare. Like ok, a baby is standing on the table, grab and move baby. There’s poop on the floor? Ok wipe up. There’s paint all over the table and chairs…good thing I bought the washable kind.
