Our intelligence helps us regulate our emotions. Fear, for example, is based on mistrust and a lack of self-confidence. If, on the other hand, we remain honest and truthful, open and tolerant, we will not only have greater self-confidence we’ll easily overcome fear.
when @naomiraddon flies into your tiny hometown😍. my parents just got done housing evacuated folks from the fire, interesting to see from above. such a small blip of CA, this is so fun. funny, we were supposed to be there right now but changed our plans for next week. Hi Naomi!
Can we get something straight? There's no debate about whether people WANT schools to open. EVERYONE wants schools open this fall. The question's whether it's safe. That other countries can open schools is yet another indictment of this administration's bungling of the pandemic.
We are social animals, we have a natural concern for other members of our community. It's they on whom our lives depend. This is why we need to teach our children about their emotions and how to tackle those that are destructive. Our aim is a community of healthy human beings.

There is fear, confusion, misinformation, and so much we still don't know about the coronavirus. This is why national leadership is essential, why sober and honest messaging is essential. Instead we have a yawning vacuum filled by pettiness, incompetence, incoherence and deceit.
What is important is not so much how long you live as whether you live a meaningful life. This doesn’t mean accumulating money and fame, but being of service to your fellow human beings. It means helping others if you can, but even if you can’t do that, at least not harming them.
On this #Juneteenth, when the world’s finally paying attention, let’s honor those who’ve always celebrated this day, just like they’ve always felt the brunt of systemic racism. At a moment of reckoning, let ‘s open eyes, ears, and hearts to those we need to see, hear, and love.
Talk less. Listen more. That’s good advice for journalists, life partners, and especially those who live life with privileges and want to understand a hurt that is not only of this moment but is systemic and centuries in the making.
