People say, “The Bible was written by men.”

And that’s true.

But that’s not the whole story.

The Bible was written through dozens of men, across centuries, in different lands, languages, cultures, and circumstances.

Some were kings.

Some were shepherds.

Some were fishermen.

Some were prophets.

Some wrote from palaces.

Some wrote from prisons.

And somehow, from Genesis to Revelation, the story does not fall apart.

It moves with one purpose of God redeeming fallen humanity through His Son - Jesus Christ.

A garden.

A fall.

A promise.

A people.

A kingdom.

A cross.

An empty tomb.

A coming King.

That kind of unity is not normal.

You can barely get 40 people today to agree on what toppings belong on a pizza.

The Bible is not impressive because men wrote it.

It is powerful because God breathed it out.

Men held the pen, but God authored the story.

Helen Roseveare, a missionary who faced intense suffering and persecution during her 20 years of service in the Congo, shares one of the times that she saw God answer prayer in a most unexpected way:

"I went to have prayers with our orphanage children as I did every day, and any of the children wanted gathered around me for prayer time, and I'd give them different things to pray about. And this particular day, I told the children of this tiny baby and asked them to pray for the nurses that they would stay awake all night to keep that baby warm. If the baby got cold, it would die. I mentioned that the baby had a 2-year-old sister who was crying because her mommy had died. I mentioned the burst hot water bottle.

During prayer time, different children prayed for different things, and then one little 10-year-old girl, Ruth, she prayed in the usual blunt way of our African children, 'Please, God, send us a hot water bottle. Now, God, it'll be no good tomorrow. Send it this afternoon. Now, if it comes tomorrow, the baby will be dead.'

I'm sort of swallowing hard, and she said, 'While you're about it, God, would you send a dolly for the little 2-year-old sister, so she'll know that Jesus really loves her?'

And that afternoon, the parcel came. It was the first parcel I ever, I've been out there four years, I'd never had a parcel from home. And despite the fact I live on the equator, somebody packing that parcel had been prompted by God to put in a hot water bottle, and a child from my Bible class at home had put in a dolly for a little girl.

And it came that afternoon in answer to a 10 year-old child's prayer, and the amazing thing was, you know, that parcel had been on the way five months to get to us. It had left England in July, and it came that afternoon, cause a child prayed."

For a thousand years, the Bible existed in England. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿✝️

But only in Latin.

Ordinary people weren't allowed to read it.

The Church said only the Church could speak to God.

William Tyndale thought that was wrong.

Oxford-educated. Spoke eight languages.

He told a clergyman: I will cause the boy that drives the plough to know more scripture than you.

He asked the Bishop of London for permission to translate.

Refused.

So he left England. He never came back.

In Germany, he translated alone. In hiding. Moving city to city.

In 1526, the first copies reached England. Smuggled in bales of cloth.

The Church burned every copy it could find.

He printed more.

The Bishop of London bought copies just to burn them.

Tyndale used the money to print better editions.

He was betrayed. Arrested in Antwerp. Imprisoned in Vilvoorde Castle for eighteen months.

In October 1536, they strangled him at the stake. Then burned his body.

His last words: Lord, open the King of England's eyes.
Within three years, Henry ordered an English Bible in every church.

It was largely Tyndale's translation.

When the King James Bible was published in 1611, eighty-four percent of the New Testament was Tyndale's work.

Let there be light. The salt of the earth. The spirit is willing. A moment in time. The powers that be.

Phrases you use every day.

Written by a man they killed for writing them.

They didn't teach you his name.

He wanted a ploughboy to read.

Many Christians love to use Corrie ten Boom as the ultimate example of forgiving the enemy. And yes - her forgiveness was powerful.

But let me remind you of something.

The most Christian thing Corrie did was not forgiving a Nazi guard after the war - the most Christian thing she did was refusing to stay silent while Jews were being hunted. She hid them. She protected them. She risked everything.

She did not sit on the sidelines - she acted.

She was a Ruth - “Your people shall be my people.” She attached herself to the Jewish people in their darkest hour - not when it was convenient.

Today we are witnessing an unprecedented wave of antisemitism. Loud hatred. Polished hatred. Academic hatred. Even some self-proclaimed conservative influencers fanning the flames.

Let me be very clear -

You will never provoke Israel to jealousy through hatred.
You will never draw Jewish hearts toward the Messiah through violence.
You will never reflect Jesus by attacking His own people.

The apostle Paul spoke about provoking Israel to jealousy - but jealousy comes from love, from holiness, from walking in truth - not from slander and conspiracy theories.

Silence in a time like this is not wisdom - it is surrender.

If we claim to follow the Jewish Messiah - then we must not be ashamed of the Jewish people.

This is not the hour to retreat - it is the hour to stand.
