Pickett Fire Update:

Firefighting efforts will continue overnight with three type one night, flying helicopters with 1 Helco providing supervision. Ground resources will also remain on the fire which include hand crews, engine strike teams, dozers, and water tenders. While the fire grew in size, it remained within the control lines. Firefighters continued suppression efforts utilizing historical dozer lines and fuel reduction projects completed by CAL FIRE/Napa County Fire and Napa Firewise. Intel 12 has mapped the #PickettFire at 3,235 acres and it is now 7 percent contained.

That 1,102 acres of growth from when it was last mapped on Thursday night can be attributed to the fire backing to strategic fuel breaks and historical control lines. There has been no new threat to structures on Friday. Both air and ground resources continue to make an aggressive and effective attack on this fire and progress is being made on its containment.

#PickettFire - Update:

The fire is approximately 50-60 acres. We currently have 28 engines, six hand crews, four dozers, three water tenders, three helicopters, four air tankers and one air tactical aircraft responding to the fire. More than 215 total personnel from multiple agencies are actively working to control the fire. Calistoga Community Center has opened its doors for evacuees. We are in unified command with Napa County Sheriffs Office.

#PickettFire - NEW INCIDENT - Firefighters are at scene of a vegetation fire near the 2300 block of Pickett road, Calistoga. The fire is approximately 3 acres and has a moderate rate of spread. If traveling in the area use caution.

Today PG&E is planning to shut off power to 143 customers in Northwest Napa County (north of Tubbs Road) from 6 PM to 7 AM tomorrow.
A Community Resource Center is open for county residents from 8am-10pm at 1307 Washington Street in Calistoga.

Keep On Digging
July 18th, a mini excavator, worth $30,000, was stolen from Napa County. But our Detectives were willing to "dig deep" to find this excavator. After 12 days, detectives recovered the heavy equipment in Sacramento. It was returned to the owner yesterday!

Update on Silverado and Conn Fires
Silverado Trail at Zinfandel Lane closed in both directions. The estimated time to re-open lanes (in both directions) is later this afternoon, around 3:00 PM.

Currently, we have two new fires in Napa County, both in St. Helena.
1) Silverado Fire - Silverado Trail near HWY 128 (currently 1 acre)
2) Conn Fire - Silverado Trail, near Zinfandel Lane (currently 1 acre)
