The Prophet (peace be upon him) called fasting a shield, and every day of Ramadan you carry that shield you get a little stronger. What you're building ibetween yourself and sin is called taqwa (God-consciousness), and the strength of your taqwa lasts far beyond this month.

Sincerity (Ikhlāṣ) in Islam means doing every act of worship and good deed solely for the pleasure of Allah, without seeking praise, recognition, or worldly gain. It is the foundation of all accepted actions, as deeds are judged by intentions.
Islam teaches that worship, charity, learning, and even daily activities become acts of worship when performed with sincere intention. Lack of sincerity leads to riyā’ (showing off), which nullifies rewards.
The Qur’an and Sunnah emphasize sincerity as the essence of true faith, making it a key quality of a true believer and a means of attaining Allah’s acceptance and reward.
