@HarrisonHSmith please don't spread misinformations, it weren't an election season, it was at the center of Merkels second term. And the CDU were the "pro-nuclear" party. Although they didn't end the nuclear phase-out, but merely postponed it, after Fukushima they accelerated the phase-out
