This is going to sound insensitive but Buffalo Sabres fans are arguably more neglected than the citizens of the Democratic republic of the Congo. I ate this weird edible the other night and it got me reading about how in the Congo, like 85% of the population lives below the poverty line. There’s extremely limited access to electricity or clean water. Constant violence and unrest. Zero security. Resources to maintain a healthy life are incredibly difficult to come by. It’s fucked up. Now that I’m typing this I feel bad comparing Sabres fans to an entire country with a horrifying humanitarian crisis but at least if you’re in the Congo you kinda know what you’re getting into. For Sabres fans, you are consistently led on. Told that they care. Told the future is bright. Reality? you have some billionaire that doesn’t even care that the team has missed the playoffs for almost 20 years. In the Congo, you know what to expect and you realize that even though international organizations do try to help, the conflicts and problems outweigh the assistance. So you kind of already know you gotta move somewhere else. For Buffalo fans, they can’t move the team somewhere else. They are stuck. I’m not saying people can wake up and leave the Congo, I understand there’s more to it, but at the end of the day who is even reading what I’m writing right now. I feel bad for countries like the Congo but at least in the Congo there’s light at the end of the tunnel. For Sabres fans, there isn’t even a tunnel. It’s a black abyss that goes nowhere.
