Dr Sudipta Narayan Roy, Chairman, CII ER AYUSH Subcommittee & MD, Powell Group, shares "The CII ER AYUSH Subcommittee extends its sincere thanks to the Finance Minister for the impactful budget presented at the West Bengal Bidhan Sabha. We are especially grateful for the consideration of our recommendation dated 29 May 2026 on licensing and fee requirements for ethanol under the West Bengal Excise Rules, 2025 for manufacturing homoeopathic medicines. The proposed removal of the separate excise licence and fee for industrial spirit used in homoeopathic medicines is a progressive reform. It will reduce compliance burdens, improve ease of doing business, encourage investment, and further strengthen West Bengal’s position as a leading hub for the AYUSH and homoeopathy industry."

On 2 June 2026, the CII Eastern Region AYUSH Subcommittee presented a Rural AYUSH Outreach Model to Hon'ble Minister-in-Charge, Shri Dilip Ghosh, Department of Panchayat & Rural Development, Government of West Bengal.

The proposed model is built around a 3D Vision:
• Decolonization of Healthcare – Reclaiming India's traditional wellness systems as mainstream healthcare solutions.
• Democratization of the AYUSH Ecosystem – Making quality AYUSH access available to all, especially in rural and underserved areas.
• Development of the Last Mile through Empowerment – Creating livelihood opportunities by training local youth, women SHGs, and Panchayats as AYUSH entrepreneurs and community health ambassadors.

The Hon'ble Minister appreciated the concept and encouraged the development of an actionable roadmap leveraging the Panchayat network and existing rural institutions to ensure meaningful grassroots impact.

The interaction reinforced the potential of AYUSH as a vehicle for improving community health, generating rural livelihoods, and strengthening village-level development.
