It is Rahul Sankrityayan's birth anniversary today, so I was reminded how Awara was perhaps the only Hindi film that he really liked & praised. He saw it in Mussoorie on June 2, 1952 & wrote about it in his multi-volume memoirs 'Meri Jivan Yatra' (volume 5).

At Delhi's Piprahwa exhibition, I recently saw a small stone sculpture of Ashtamahapratiharya or the Eight Great Events in the Life of Buddha from Nalanda,10th century. Bought a replica & today I wrote a brief description by hand. Each event is associated with a pilgrimage site:
