The flydubai captain seriously wounded during the mid-air cockpit attack identified as Indian national Smit Machchhar.

Machchhar was piloting Flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv when his Omani copilot allegedly stabbed him during a violent struggle. The aircraft later made an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.

Flydubai said earlier that “all passengers are safe and accounted for” and that “the safety and wellbeing of our passengers and crew remain our highest priority.”
