It happens to smart people.

It manifests in different ways.

Some people don’t have the ability to understand AI hallucinations from fact.

Others do, but they have had success using AI and stop applying critical thinking and review to it.

For some people it manifests as over investing in an unhealthy relationship with a chatbot.

For others, it’s the constant pressure to produce with a very capable new tool. Or being able to produce something without the base skills but not understanding that the product is flawed in its design.

In subtle cases, it’s people *outsourcing* their critical thinking and review skills to AI.

In other cases it’s blind trust of the capabilities of the technology.
