Each year we offer free conference admission to 10 journalists who belong to historically underrepresented groups in media. Apply to the David Carr Scholarship here: https://t.co/FXp4fPFbdz
We are busy uploading and editing the recordings of conference sessions and hope to make them available soon!
Recordings will be sent out for free to speakers and conference attendees and will be available for purchase for anyone else interested in owning them.
Hearing @JenSeniorNY in conversation with @mitchellzuckoff at @narrativeBU conference this weekend was the shot of inspiration I needed. Highly recommend the conference to all writers!
This weekend, I helped run the @narrativeBU conference. It was my 10th year doing so and this event is always one of my favorites. Not only did I get to meet and hear from amazing speakers and attendees, but I also managed to hang out with 3 @NewmarkJPlus program participants! 👇
Just wrapped up a fruitful weekend at the @narrativeBU conference! I’m more inspired than ever for my future (and my peers’ future) in this paramount field of work. I also had the privilege to pitch a story to editors in a live pitch panel!
Lots of takeaways from #POn23 conf at BU like this from @AlizehKohari on writing about place: “make sure to give the place and people respect not just as things to be described but sources of ideas that matter in the global discourse and offer a different way of thinking perhaps”
Some #PON23 takeaways:
- There are people who care about the same issues I do in the industry
- You really need to be engaged with the community to properly cover the community
- Invite those who don’t trust you or the work you do into the dialogue
& that’s a wrap on #PON23!
Huge thank to all the coordinators, speakers, supporters & attendees who made this year’s @narrativeBU conference great.
“Bring it on AI. We will meet you with human intelligence.” @brianstelter says @narrativeBU, explaining that a bot can do a lot, but can’t give us “a well-crafted, well-told story with scenes, color and life.” Love it.
“To honor the people whose stories you want to tell, you have to take care of yourself,” @kellymcevers reminds us @narrativeBU. And another powerful lesson for work & life from @JessicaDuLong “It doesn’t work if we think we can hard-nose or hard-drink our way through it.” #PON23
