Your Excellency, yours is an extraordinary journey of SERVICE, SACRIFICE and PATRIOTISM — from the trenches of the LIBERATION STRUGGLE to the highest office in our beloved country. You remain a TRUE LIBERATION ICON, a STATESMAN and, to many of us, an AMAZING FATHER whose wisdom, patience and experience continue to inspire generations.

Under your leadership, Zimbabwe continues marching towards VISION 2030, driven by the conviction that our country must become a prosperous and empowered upper-middle-income society. More importantly, the foundations being laid today must carry Zimbabwe BEYOND 2030, so that future generations inherit a nation of opportunity, modern infrastructure, food security, energy security, industrialisation and sustainable economic development. Your enduring message that “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo” has reminded Zimbabweans that ultimately the responsibility of building our country rests upon our own shoulders. 🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼

For some time, I have been wondering, HOW CAN I CELEBRATE YOUR 84TH BIRTHDAY IN A SPECIAL AND MEANINGFUL WAY, YOUR EXCELLENCY ? After careful consideration, I realised that one of the greatest gifts I could give you is not necessarily something for YOU personally, but something that honours the MEN AND WOMEN whose sacrifice helped deliver the Zimbabwe we enjoy today. I know and have personally witnessed your ENDLESS LOVE, RESPECT and REVERENCE for our FALLEN NATIONAL HEROES and the liberation history of our country. I have therefore decided, in honour of your 84TH BIRTHDAY, to donate US$50,000 EACH TO 30 FAMILIES OF OUR FALLEN NATIONAL HEROES — spanning those who passed away during and following the LIBERATION STRUGGLE through to our more recently departed heroes, provided there is a clearly identified and verified surviving spouse and/or children. The intention is very simple: this money must assist with the UPKEEP, WELFARE AND CONTINUED PRESERVATION OF THE LEGACY of those great sons and daughters of Zimbabwe who served their country with distinction.

With your indulgence please allow me, Your Excellency, to personally add 10 MORE FAMILIES, beginning with names particularly close to my heart: the family of the late VP JOHN LANDA NKOMO, AIR CHIEF MARSHAL JOSIAH TUNGAMIRAI, AMBASSADOR SIMON KHAYA MOYO, SEKURU FOX SHEBA GAVA, VP JOSHUA NKOMO , VP SIMON MUZENDA , VP MSIKA , GENERAL REX NHONGO , CDE TSHINGA DUBE and my beloved HOME BOY, AIR CHIEF MARSHAL PERENCE SHIRI, together with the other 30 families to be identified and verified. That will bring the final number to 40 FAMILIES OF FALLEN NATIONAL HEROES, each receiving US$50,000, making my TOTAL BIRTHDAY DONATION for you to US$2 MILLION. 🙏🏽🇿🇼

I am convinced, Your Excellency, that knowing the families and children of your departed comrades are being remembered and supported will bring you far greater happiness than any expensive personal birthday present ever could. These HEROES may have departed, but their SACRIFICES, THEIR NAMES AND THEIR CONTRIBUTION TO ZIMBABWE MUST NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. Their spouses and children must always know that the nation remembers the price their loved ones paid.
