A friend of mine automated a huge part of his job.
He saved the company around 15โ20 hours of work every week using macros and templates.
Now his job is in danger because management says there isnโt enough work left for his role.
Has anyone else experienced this? Did automation end up hurting your job?

Unity CLI + Antigravity is kind of insane. ๐คฏ
This morning I had an idea:
๐จ A 3D game based on Turkish Ebru (paper marbling)
A few hours laterโฆ
๐ง Real-time paint
๐๏ธ Interactive brushes & rakes
๐ Paint ripples
๐ 3D paper peeling
โ๏ธ Automated tests
From a blank Unity project โ working prototype in a few hours.
AI-assisted game development is getting wild. ๐
And yesโฆ the paper peel is VERY satisfying. ๐

The lesson isn't "ship updates" (obviously). It's that somewhere in your review section is probably a real bug report disguised as a complaint, and the fix might be smaller than you think.
Mine was 148 levels and one honest reply.
I run a word puzzle game on the Mac App Store. It's been out 6+ years. I hadn't shipped an update in 4 of them.
A player left this review in 2024:
"I haven't been able to play it for a few weeks. On the main page it says Coming Soon... This game still isn't working. What's going on?"
๐งต
Two days ago, that same reviewer โ from 2024 โ came back and edited their review:
"Update: Thank you for updating the game. I've played a couple of rounds and it's working fine."
Two years later. They still had it installed.
98,000+ downloads on a single word game. ๐ฏ
Here's what 98K downloads actually taught me:
โ Downloads โ Revenue โ Year with MOST downloads โ Year with MOST revenue โ An unmaintained app slowly bleeds monetization even while still getting found
In 2023, I had 27,843 downloads but made less than in 2022 with only 9,089 downloads.
Downloads without conversion is a trap.

The dirty secret: competition on Mac App Store is WAY lower than iOS.
Fewer apps = easier to rank = more organic discovery. More discovery = free users.
If you have an iOS app or game that works on desktop, try it. Seriously.
What's stopping you?

"But nobody uses the Mac App Store"
My word game has had ~110-185 daily active users on Mac CONSISTENTLY for 4 years.
With zero updates. With zero marketing. With zero paid acquisition.
100% organic discovery.
