Well done to everyone who rallied together to support year old Sean Meehan who faces imprisonment for living in his log cabin on his own land. The public support Sean has received has demonstrated the power of people when we come together. At the last hearing in December Sean was ordered to remove the cabin or face imprisonment. Yesterday the court adjourned Sean's case to allow for a new application for retention planning to be submitted to Tipperary County Council.

We have the highest ever recorded homelessness in history. Our housing crisis is accelerating at a rapid pace. The State's mass immigration policy and greedy profiteers have directly led to a massive shortage of rent accommodation for Irish people resulting in sky rocketing rents. Irish people are literally being driven to the streets, with homeless hostels in cities and towns reporting full capacity.

So why when we are at crisis point, and more and more Irish people are facing homelessness, are local authorities refusing point blank to grant planning permissions for local people to build log cabins or modular homes? How can this be justified when at the same time the government are fast tracking tens of thousands of modular homes for Ukrainians across the country ? What about the massive amount of building work going on to properties to accommodate asylum seeker applicants that is exempt from planning?

How can local authorities justify turning a blind eye to the rapid destruction of our country YET threaten a man with prison for building a log cabin on his land?

Sean Meehan aged 65 has worked all his life, is in poor health and lives in a log cabin on his own land following the breakdown of his marriage. He should have every right to live on his own land in a log cabin, described as beautifully presented.
