On a day for the history books, @TheAmandaGorman delivered a poem that more than met the moment. Young people like her are proof that "there is always light, if only we're brave enough to see it; if only we're brave enough to be it."
Just a reminder that these 3 women in their 70s/80s, who have been publicly scrutinized for decades for the way they look, have done more for the world this year than our government
I remember in March my mom, an ER nurse, telling me she had to reuse her N95 daily bc they didnt have funding for PPE. Only a couple weeks later I saw police brutalizing people with expensive, on-demand military-grade gear.
I dont give a shit about the "optics." DEFUND THEM.
Beautiful words from @VanJones68 on CNN.
“It’s easier to be a dad this morning, to tell your kids that character matters. Telling the truth matters. Being a good person matters...This is vindication for a lot of people who have really suffered.”
So many people worked so hard for this to happen. So many people whose names aren’t in the spotlight but whose persistent work in their communities, in their cities, and in their states made this possible. Their work doesn’t end now, it always continues. I’m grateful for them.
Stacey Abrams played an absolutely ENORMOUS role in Georgia turning blue. She has become one of the biggest civil and voting rights advocates in the country and helped register about 800,000 new voters. Give this Black woman the credit she deserves!
